Analysis Audio at High End Show
1musiclover, "I really wasn't in a spot to be able to accurately judge the quality of the sound".Hmm, I think you said it.
Analysis Audio at High End Show
The prices seemed high to me too. But I listened anyway. I can't compare them to Apogees, since I have never heard Apogees, but I really liked what I heard. There was a sweetness to the sound, but it was also very transparent and dynamic...one of ...
m20s and what?
Consider also a PS Audio HCA2. You can find them used for around your price. I had an HCA2 and a pair of M20s for a year and a half or so when I was starting out in this hobby. I had a great time with them!
Rowlands vs. Levinson Amps.
Muralman1, you state:"Having a digital switching power supply ... is the wrong way to go about it, IMHO"What are the technical and performance reasons for your belief?
Tally up which speaker gets the most votes as best
One more vote for the MBL 101E.
tube amp dilemma with electrostats
Douglikesaudio, were there any negatives experienced when you added the autoformers? I'm especially interested in your insights because you've got electrostats. I've read that they may smooth out some of the detail, resulting in a more euphonic bu...
How to get multichannel sound from a CD?
Thanks Kk, Greg, Eld. Intereesting to know about the Yamaha, but I suppose that newer technologies such as Logic7 and Trifield could have an edge for sound quality.
How to get multichannel sound from a CD?
Kr4: Right--it's the McCormack preamp, not the player. Thanks for the info on 'Logic7'--most of the reviewers seem to like it.Eldartford: Do all of the surround algorithms (including Trifield, Logic7, etc.) work the way you describe, with out-of-p...

Kharma Sub Set Up- Review
Interesting to hear about Romy's ears and about his willingness to help you. Also about facing the drivers to the wall--radical but you would get the best power response that way.

McCormack DNA 500
Zybar, that's an impressive list of amps! Does the DNA500 flat-out beat all of them, or were there any of those other amps that did some things better? Any you regret selling?
What Do You Get When You Spend Megabucks?
Thanks for your response. I have only heard the passive ATCs, never had a chance to hear the active. Meyer is entirely new to me. I will see if I get a chance to hear either of these.I do believe that you end up paying for cosmetics with home spea...
What Do You Get When You Spend Megabucks?
Cinematic_systems, what are some of the sub-$50,000 systems that would 'eat the lunch' of the Wilson X-2s and bigger Kharmas? I too am somewhat skeptical as to what you get for the dollar, but the Wilsons and Kharmas have a pretty good rep....
Anybody have opinions on supertweeters?????
Having heard plenty of ML's (although not the CLS, but I don't think it's an exception), I don't agree that they can't benefit from a supertweeter. Many speakers have a more extended and airy treble than they do. I'm speaking as a current owner of...
