@nitewulf Thank you for posting the information, I appreciate it.
Msb dacs why not alot of postings
@nitewulf Your attitude is one reason why audiogon loses contributers every day. If only the norm was education without condescension.
Pass labs X250.5 cracking noise
@fabio3181 I would just contact Pass directly. They're great even if you bought decide hand and will help you diagnose and fix. Not that I think you need another source for fixing, but the community at https://www.diyaudio.com/forums/pass-labs/ is...
Mojo Audio Mystique EVO
Looking forward to reading more impressions... this dac has been on my radar ever since I saw the internal construction and attention to detail (especially in the power supply). Very happy with my Audio Mirror T3-SE, and since it uses the same r2r...

@lalitk Please do post a review thread if you do try the LinQ. I'm interested in trying some new streamers too.
Supratek..Cabernet 6SN7 or Cabernet DHT
+1 @facten would especially like to hear about a comparison between the two typologies. Nice that you can just switch back and forth...
I2S Input - Is It Better?
The best thing to do is try out both. I asked mojo audio if they could add an i2s input to their dac and they felt strongly that it would be a mistake. The basic gist of the reasoning is that if we know clock timing/syncing is essential, why would...
Never Owned a Tube Amp and Want Advice
A small tip that I didn't know coming from a SS background. Don't run your new tube amp without a load attached as it can destroy the unit. You may be especially tempted to do so right when to get it as you would like to A/B it against your old SS...

Gain stage and output buffer in Tube DACs
This article is a little more targeted: https://www.psaudio.com/pauls-posts/duties-output-stage/9298/"Most of the work designers do to make sure their output stages are good sounding and well serving of their products were developed in preamplifie...
What makes a DAC so expensive?
@listening99 I am not trying to shut anyone down, but it is also important to talk about how people on this forum are constantly taking the "I'm right, you're wrong" argument approach rather than just trying to help educate others by sharing their...
What makes a DAC so expensive?
@grannyring Sad but true. When I'm building I also spend time on diyaudio and the difference is so stark. People genuinely trying to help each other vs. the cock fights that always break out here. That said, if there's a better place to find out a...
What makes a DAC so expensive?
This has devolved into a fuse or power cable discussion. Obviously @djones51 is not going to change his mind no matter any one else's experience and there's no way he's changing the minds of people like me with the experience that different dacs m...
Musing - audiophiles that new just enough to be dangerous

What makes a DAC so expensive?
I tried one of the best measuring dacs in the world, the matrix X-Sabre Pro. Unfortunately it sounded dull and lifeless. I wish I could choose based on measurements because it sure would be a lot easier than actually having to listen to everything.
