Warm/Musical/Resolving Preamp Under 2K Buckingham - you might want to check out the Supratek Triode preamp. If you want line stage only, it will cost you 2,100 new from the "factory". With phono, it will cost 2,400. I have compared this preamp to many other VERY high end preamps up to ...
AudioMeca vs. AudioAero vs. Electrocompaniet Thanks Tweekerman that was very nice of you! I just try to call it like I hear it. The thread got a little side tracked with all the high(er) end discussion and I apologize for that.I will provide a "review" on this tread of the Keops when I get i...
AudioMeca vs. AudioAero vs. Electrocompaniet S2K_dude - When I stated, "Upon removing the Mephisto from my system and connecting the Sony DVP-9000ES I didn't immediately notice a difference." Was based on the fact that I was standing in the front of my room, between the speakers. It didn't t...
AudioMeca vs. AudioAero vs. Electrocompaniet Hi Fahad, I still do swear by the Mephisto. Not only is it a fantastic SOUNDING player, it is also a beautiful piece of art to display in your home.I had to sell because of taxes. Plus I spent a few dollars on a pair of LAMM monoblocks at about th...
The"new" look Capitole I agree with Mike. The Capitole's weakness seems to be the volume control - which ironically is the big draw to this player for many folks. I didn't try the Capitole with attenuators but thought it sounded best running through a good preamp.
Do power conditioners really help? Power conditioning products initially seem very impressive. I have used the Shunyata Hydra, Sound Application CFX, Audio Magic Stealth, and Bybee Pro. Over time, I realized that the conditioners weren't really conditioners at all, they were more l...
bypass outlet and hook wires directly to romex?? Albert - great post. I've done the same experiment with similar results. Here is the solution!! Bypass the main circuit breaker and install a fuse block with a ceramic fuse. This will ensure your power comes direct from the pole. Contact your favo...
AudioMeca vs. AudioAero vs. Electrocompaniet Oh.. yes.. By the way.. I had to sell my Mephiso. :( I am not happy about it but taxes came due and I had just purchased a pair of LAMM M1.1's at the time - so I needed cash. Unfortunately I did not find the digital answer or break the tie.I have ...
AudioMeca vs. AudioAero vs. Electrocompaniet Okay... Guess I'll chime in here. I've owned all three. And they are all fantastic players whichever player you ultimately choose, you cannot go wrong. The Electrocompaniet is similar to the Audio Aero and the Audio Aero is similar to the Mephisto...
Audiomeca Mephisto II vs. SACD and DVD-A Eadese is correct. I have owned several high end CD players over the past year including a Marantz SA-1. While the Marantz was quite good with SACD, I felt it lacked the emotion of the Mephisto II. SACD is initially very impressive on the surface ...
Mcintosh - Love Em' or Hate Em' ......Why? Nope... I think *I* am the latest McIntosh owner!! Before I purchased my LAMM M1.1's, I had a MC2102 in my system for a while. It seemed to run out of steam with my 89db speakers but sounded quite good most of the time. The performance of the 2102...

The"new" look Capitole Good Post Gerryn - I might add, the AudioMeca Mephisto will cost about $2,000 less than the Audio Aero Capitole.
The"new" look Capitole Okay... What about something like this?
The"new" look Capitole I was hoping they would build something like this with a French twist: |
