Check out the Jean Marie Reynaud line of speakers. I just recently got the evolution 3's after auditioning many, many speakers. I wanted something that sounded good on chamber music, solo piano, choir, vocals, and jazz. These and the spendor sp100...

How do the europas do with classical music? instrumental timbre, solo piano, strings? How would you compare them to spendor sp100?
Amazing Solo Piano Recordings
Wilhelm Kempff playing the solo piano music of Schumann on DG, 4 disc set.
Best recording of Tchaikovsky's 5th
the mravinsky is very good. but... the mengelberg with concertgebouw is by far the best. he infuses this played to death piece with imagination, drama, color and makes it a really compelling listen.
dynamic classical which isn't boring?
I'd like to second Sugarbrie's recs, Berlioz symphonie fantastique and Stravinsky's firebird, both dynamic and beautiful works.
Cowboy Junkies

Beethoven Symphony No. 7
Mengelberg and Concergebouw, or Furtwangler. Period.

Sibelius Sym/Sakari/IcelandSO/Recommendation
Yeah greg, I did all those sibelius recordings with the Iceland S.O. Interesting to hear the commentary. I just saw this spanish movie with scenes of Finland, the Laplands. Man, is it beautiful up there. I agree with Tweek on some levels about cap...
Sibelius Sym/Sakari/IcelandSO/Recommendation
for what it's worth, most everybody in the Iceland Sym. thought Vanska (who was the principal conductor before Sakari) was a much better Siblius interpreter than Sakari.
Sibelius Sym/Sakari/IcelandSO/Recommendation
Nice review. Listening thru the #4th tonite after all of your recommendations.... It does have a special nordic spirit to it after all. Will pass this on to my friends in the north.
