Record Cleaning Machine- Keith Monks or Loricraft?
Keith is the way to go, better cleaning and value. Go with the classic model which I have used. I also operated the Loricraft 4 and found it inferior to the Keith.
Let's hear from Long Time Owners
In addition to the 'hunt', their is the urge to 'collect', hoard etc. We as humans will always believe that tomorrow will bring a better this or that.
What high-end multichannel SACD players are there?
Go with the best, sound and value, Sony 5400. No one does it better.
Need advice on new TT, arm and cartridge.
If you want a 'set and forget' TT, best you have a Denon 47F, great sound, great value. Any of the Denon cartridges would sound great with it. I've given a number of these TT's to my children as a way to introduce them to vinyl without all the set...
Proac E.B.S Extended Bass Studio 3
I have EBS's, and have found to get any base they need solid state amps of 100+. Tubes which drive my Studio 140's do just find.
Are audiophiles people of sound prejudice?
Of course, everybody's ears are different, so they hear differently. This extends to a culture difference in the way we speak and listen. A good illustration of that is the 'British' sound that is often spoken about. I'm from Brooklyn so I know it...
Amp recommendations for Tannoy Canterbury SE
Best to find a dealer that will loan you some solid state units, 100 watts+. Often the only way to really find out what best suits the SE's is the 'try' way. Theory will get you know where. I have heard the SE's at a dealer's showroom with various...
How are Hig-End Speakers Priced?
Any speaker manufacturer's business model will fail if the manufacturing cost, parts, labor and packing, is over 10% of their retail selling price. As for the R&D, that could be zero to 15%, as most brands spread that cost over three to five y...
Record Cleaning Machine - Loricraft PRC-3 vs. 4?
You will not be happy with the PRC 3, the bug of 'inferior' is planted in your brain, never to leave. Buy the PRC 4 and be done with it, at least until the PRC 5 is available.
Hardwood floors in basement music room?
Never hardwood, carpet gets you a level playing field to get the other acoustics right. Go with a very heavy padding. Get a carpet with a 'cut pile', not a 'loop'.
the meaning of the word "better"
What ever any person thinks it is, all have different ears and listen rooms. Of course, it always applies to the next component you have already decided to purchase.
What Audio Show to Attend?
Save your money and don't attend any show, put the money you save into better speakers. None of these shows will be of any help in making the speaker decision, trust me, I have been to over 70 shows, they are all beauty parades. Seek out a local d...
Stereo and Fish tanks - noisy need help
It is rather obvious, just turn off the filters when you are listening to music. Assuming you listen less then eight hours a day, the fish will still be fine.
Is a hearing aid the best possible tweak for 50+
Yes, if you have a significant hearing loss that is correctable. I have worn hearing aids for over fifty years and have been an audiophile for all those years. Always use aids in pairs. Almost all hearing aids are now digital, but there are some a...
Granite and digital..
Like rhljazz, my experience with granite is that it sucks when it comes to digital units. I've continue to use wood shelves but I have built and acoustical shield for th fron of the unit so the energy flying around the room does not get to the unit.
