Audio - Post Divorce
A bad marriage sucks the joy out of every otherwise enjoyable aspect of life. A good wife makes the hardest times bearable. Take some time to rediscover yourself and the world. As time goes on your appreciation for both the finer things and simple...
Building the Audio Note Kit 1 SET amp...
Charles and Rebbi, I love the triumph extreme IIs driven by the 300b Frankensteins. They are very different speakers than the deCapos. Rebbi loves his deCapos. The coincident speakers may not be to his liking. I think buying used or with an in hom...

Chayro, Elizabeth is no Beethoven. I knew Beethoven. :)
Review: Audio Magic Illusion Umbilical PC for ModWright Power cord
Wig, In my system, introduction of the Illusion umbilicals was one of the most cost effective tweaks I ever experienced. The illusions aren't cheap, but they really made a substantial improvement. I'm thinking about having Jerry make me one for my...
What's the greatest bargain in SET these days?
Charles, I was getting 1 to 2 hikes a week in up until Thanksgiving. I'm booked on the house this week and next, then my boots go back on.
What's the greatest bargain in SET these days?
Mikirob, Thanks for thinking of me. I'm still shuttling back and forth between Indiana and Tennessee. I am slowly getting the Tennessee house all set up for the final move when our house in Indy sells. It is tough getting any listening time in. Ma...
What's the greatest bargain in SET these days?
Rebbi, I haven't yet read the review, but based on your synopsis, it does seem to be a bit perplexing. As you may recall, I also had the problem with the arcing rectifier, and in due course pitched it into the trash can. Arcing may be "normal" but...
Reference 3a speakers and tubes
I experienced much better results with my deCapos when driven by both a Coincident dynamo and Coincident Frank's as compared to being driven by SS Cary mono blocks.
ILLusion Liquid Air Umbilical for Modwright units
Thanks Wig, I will give a look.
ILLusion Liquid Air Umbilical for Modwright units
Knghifi, the Phillips 5R4GYS was rather grainy and had too much sibilence in the PS 9.0. Imaging was not as good as the 1944 vintage Westinghouse, which BTW was the last one Brent Jesse had. The Phillips is a very good tube in the PS 9.9, but not ...
ILLusion Liquid Air Umbilical for Modwright units
Knghfi, how do you find the TS 5U4GB in terms of stage and image? I tried a cheap 1960s GE 5U4GB and the image and stage was crazy good. Best by far that I have heard in my system. Unfortunately, there was far too much sibilence.Best rectifier ove...
ILLusion Liquid Air Umbilical for Modwright units
I found the Phillips 5R4GYS to be a good tube in the 9.9 driving the 5400,but I did not like that tube in the 9.0 driving the HAPZ1ES. I also don't like the 9.9 driving the HAPZ1 regardless of rectifier, although I haven't tried it with the Philli...
Has anyone tried the Coincident Dynamo 34SE
I agree with Mikirob. The dynamo is a superb piece at its price. My tube rolling so far has been confined to rectifiers. I have tried a variety of 5AR4s, including NOS Mullard late 60's, but I prefer an early 60's GE 5U4 GB (pretty cheap tube) to ...
