"American Sound" Speakers
The West Coast Sound (American Sound) was developed as a response to the motion picture industry. Since sound tracks became part of the motion picture industry there was a demand for efficient systems which could fill large theaters with clear, un...
Is the red glow normal for 845 tubes?
Hi Tiofelon, Bel Canto's response has me puzzled. The SET40i is auto biased, therefore, it is either optimized for a 70w dissipation or 100w dissipation, it can't be both. If you are still curious, check with Bel Canto to be sure of the dissipatio...
Is the red glow normal for 845 tubes?
What did he say about using a low dissipation (70w) 845s in the SETi40? That is the real question you should ask. If the SETi845 is auto biased for a standard 845, then the amp is over driving the Sino.
sophia 845 markIII and cary 211M AE
Based on the above noted specification, yes these tubes will work in your Cary AE211 without issue. I have a lot of 845 tubes, but unfortunately, not the Sophia 845 Mk3 Carbon plate, therefore, I cannot comment on their sound.
Is the red glow normal for 845 tubes?
The Bel Canto amp is designed to run the 845 tubes at the NOS RCA standard dissipation of 100w, therefore, you are running the Sino (70w) low dissipation tubes 40% over their optimal operating rating, which accounts for the red hot spots on the pl...
Is the red glow normal for 845 tubes?
Sorry Tiofelon, I misread your post and noticed that your tubes glow red after 25 minute of being powered up and a couple of minutes when powered off. This is still not normal for a standard 845. What is the Sino 845 dissipation rating? Perhaps it...
Is the red glow normal for 845 tubes?
I can only go by my own experience using 845 tubes by Amperex, United, Metal plate 845W, 845C, 845M, and the Shugaung 845B and standard 845. You should not witness a red glow when the tube is powered up. If the red glow can "fight" though the sea ...
Advantages of bi-wire?
Dealers love buy-wired speakers.
Amp suggestions please...need some power
McCormack DNA series.
Krell KSA100 MKI power consumption
We assumed a North American Standard of 7amps x 110v = 770 watts. Take a look at another 100w amp and see what the current draw is at full output, because in Class A, your amp is at full output at idle...that is why it gets so hot because it need ...
Krell KSA100 MKI power consumption
Jsd52756, the FPB300cx uses 60w on standby, 175 at idle and 1700w at full output.
Krell KSA100 MKI power consumption
Jsd52756, 7 amps at idle for the KSA 100 seems about right. Dont't forget that the KSA 100 is class A all the way to 100 watts. The KSA series of amps did not have a sliding or sustained bias outputs as the newer models.
Krell KSA100 MKI power consumption
I know for a fact that it consumes a lot of power at idle.
Best 845 tube out there?
Wow, $900 for a chinese current production 845! NOS 845 are looking like a bargain.
Best 845 tube out there?
TJ Full Music Carbon Plate 845 MKII is rated with 'nominal filament current - 0.6A at 10V' while the original RCA 845 tube was rated "filament current - 3.25A at 10V'. According to TJ Full Music's tube designer, for 845 tubes made with carbonized ...
