Denafrips Athena- is damn good
Probably not the kind of post that's going to generate a lot of respect 😏.
Is This the Essence of "The Audiophile Dilemma?
I think that most audiophiles that have embraced this hobby for a fairly significant length of time will admit it's not just about the music. Technology always keeps moving forward and with it the hope of gaining a little more satisfaction with ch...
If you have a CD Player, you need to do this periodically...
Been reading up on the Matthew Bond Cascade Noise Burn-In Disc – Version 2.0. Ordered one today and it will be interesting to see if this item takes the system further than the Ayre disc. I will share my thoughts after giving it a fair audition.

I tried to order the new Densen DeMagic disc from Sight + Sound Gallery. Ordered it 12/29 of last year and never received it. They don't answer calls, just get transfered to voice mail. Very frustrating!!
Class A or Class D solid-state amplifiers (modern designs)
Jeff Rowland was asked a question similar to this a few years ago and basically replied that it's what a designer does with the technology that counts as opposed to one classification being necessarily better than another.
The problem with streaming
I was into high end vinyl for many years. What I found and what I still believe to be true is that to get the best of what analog can give you it takes an incredible ongoing commitment of serious $$$ to set up and a lot of effort trying to keep ev...
Dunlavy SC IV Speaker- Any Good???
If you want the ultimate Dunlavy experience, find a Dunlavy subwoofer(s) to go with the SC-IVs or Vs. In my 2-channel room I have the Vs with a single passive Dunlavy Sub designed into an IV enclosure. Integrates seamlessly. Rattles the windows if...
Dunlavy SC IV Speaker- Any Good???
I have the SC-IVs and just about every other speaker Dunlavy ever made.  Been to lots of audio shows. Been to a lot of dealer demos. If you're looking for the most integrated sound specific to a sweet spot, I have never heard anything better.
How long ago did you catch the bug?
I was part of a family band growing up and I would mess around with the PA equipment. Got my first audio system in 1971 and first really high-end system in 1974. So, let's see, that means something around 50 years in this hobby. Still intrigued by...
Do hi-end DACs offer true value or diminishing return...
My experience with DACs a is that a very well-designed unit can be had for under 2K and the real performance differences come from the choice of power conditioner, cables, isolation and system synergy. Are higher priced units potentially better? I...
Eva Cassiday Blew Me Away with her cover of Wayfaring Stranger....
In my humble opinion, she is one of the few artists that actually sounds better on her live cuts than on her studio cuts.

Yes, I am keeping CD players in my systems for this reason and also that I have a ton of burned CD Playlists that we still enjoy. In the 'house system' I'm using a Rotel RCD - 9658x which is at least 25 years old and it still seems to get the job ...
If you have a CD Player, you need to do this periodically...
With regard to the Bedini CD demagnetizer, I had one of these and used it regularly until it broke down for good. I then replaced it with the Acoustic Revive RD-3 which has accomplished essentially the same thing and that being to demagnetize the ...
Gratitude and Thanksgiving
Grateful for many things, not the least of which is still having almost all of my hearing while pushing 70. Life is good and God to be praised for another Holiday Season living in freedom and abundance.
Speakers for a Large Room (20’x37’)
Dunlavy sc-4,5,6s are still to be found on occasion. Even though they are perhaps a couple of decades old, they still represent one of the best values in high end audio. Oh, and they absolutely love big rooms.
