VPI bearing oil/grease?
When I used to work in a machine shop (college job, many lifetimes ago) the guy responsible for the high precision lathes used to use STP Oil Treatment to lube his machine. Other freinds of mine who are shooters use the same stuff to lube their re...
Peachtree Audio iDecco & iPod/iPhone Compatibility
My 2 cents worth:1- As your experience shows, the iPhone is not an iPod and works like crap for anything except MP3 files. IMHO if you need an iPod use an iPod. Better yet, use your laptop or an iMac as a music server.Your iDecco will work very we...
Which speakers have the biggest soundstage
I agree with the Philojet, Audio Note speakers are wide disperson designs and are noted for their wide soundstage.Due to their design, Ohm Walsh speakers provide a very wide soundstage due to unique design. If they are placed properly there is ess...
Is there a great LP12 set-up person in SoCal?
Call Stan Zeiden at Shelly's Audio in Woodland Hills (a Linn dealer). He's the best Linn guy I know of in the Western U.S. Don't know if he would make a house call to AZ, though.Shelly's Audio(818) 716-8500

Got $1000...how should I spend it?
$1,000 for a system? Easy, if I can assume that you have your music on a laptop or PC.1- see Mapman's response.2- $450 or so for a used Peachtree Decco; includes DAC. $50 for a set of used speaker cables. $500 left for speakers (lots of good choic...

What percentage of audiophiles use a sub ?
I agree with most of what Byroncunningham said, above. I have not had good experience with integating subs into my 2-channel system. I dislike overbrearing and, more especially, one-note bass. I have never heard a sub-based system that delivers th...
Questions about room size and speaker choice
What gear - SS or tube?
Questions about room size and speaker choice
What electronics? What type mof music do you play. How is the room furnished? (bed, crammed full of furniture or bare). No doubt about it, 9 x 11 is pretty small - floor standers notwithstanding. Good monitors and subs would certainly be the easy w...
Amp not enough power
Get more efficient speakers.
Tube Power Amp Recommendations around $2000
My suggestion would be to try a pair of Quicksilver Mini-Mites and save $1000 for other toys. Actually more - I have seen them selling new for under $900.
