Esoteric DV-50: Any cdp's Significantly better? Guys, sorry I had to postpone the shootout, but let's get together soon. We had an awesome day today with the demo, driving the Sound Labs with Atma-Sphere, Wolcott, CAT, and Parasound amps. I have the photos to prove it :-)Brian
THE Show - worth going? I've attended CES (and THE Show) for many years, long before becoming a dealer. People intent on attending usually find a way to finagle their way in. At the same time most realize the show is for industry only and are quite courteous to those con...
Anybody blow a ceramic woofer with an OTL amp? Tireguy is right. It can be easier to damage a speaker with a 20 watt amp than it is with a 400 watt one. On the other hand, it's true the ceramic drivers are more fragile - damage most often occurs in transit.Ralph is doing well, and sales are wa...
Anyone heard of DK design group? According to this, it's Blue Diamond Elementary School. Then you might want to ask, who is D1575?I always have to wonder when seeing a post about something I've never heard of by someone who hasn't posted before, or very little.
Esoteric DV-50: Any cdp's Significantly better? I'm afraid I'm going to have to cancel the get together at my house next Sunday. I am extremely busy at work and have a deadline to meet. I will be very happy to host a session in January, probably after CES which I will be attending. Meanwhile, p...
Esoteric DV-50: Any cdp's Significantly better? Steve, I can't make the 18th as I've blocked out the day for a customer coming in from out of town for a big audition. The 19th, afternoon or evening, is what I have available. Any other time between now and January is tricky. Go ahead with your o...
Esoteric DV-50: Any cdp's Significantly better? Avguru, I have two preamps: a CTC Blowtorch (single ended inputs) and an Atma-Sphere MP-3 (balanced inputs, single ended adaptors available). I just do two channel the best I can :-)I wish I could make the get together this Saturday but have anoth...
Esoteric DV-50: Any cdp's Significantly better? Mark, you gotta get here early! :-) Seriously, anywhere is great; the middle is a little better. No beaming. You guys can play musical chairs if you like.Brian
Esoteric DV-50: Any cdp's Significantly better? Avguru, if and when there's a shootout between the Meitner and others, I'm all for it. I don't know if QA will want some of that gear coming in the door, but who knows. Looking forward to hearing 711's APL 3910, Jayctoy's Modwright'd Sony, Tim's K...
Best sacd player Nreddy: it's a preamp.
Esoteric DV-50: Any cdp's Significantly better? Next door? David and I corresponded, and he is interested in a shootout although he won't be able to attend on the 19th. We know each other as he used to own a Blowtorch preamp. Very likeable, charismatic fellow.Brian
Best sacd player Hi David - you might ask Frank P what he thinks of the Blowtorch compared to the Switchman. I visited him a few weeks ago and took the 'Torch along since he wanted to hear it in his system. It was interesting :-)Brian
Best sacd player Nreddy: APL modifies Denon 2900s and such. You might look at the long Esoteric DV-50 thread here for more info and some opinions. Aplhifi has participated in that thread.Brian
Esoteric DV-50: Any cdp's Significantly better? I'll have the Atma-Sphere amps and preamp as well :-)Brian
is Plinius Sa102 "enough" for SF Amati ? Kops, if you found it to work with the Cremonas it's worth a try with the Amatis. You may want to try the speakers with more powerful amplification to be sure, though. |
