Most beautifull turntables today....
Tafka_steve, if I replace the Kapton belt on my Rockport with a glow-in-the-dark Trojan ("ribbed for your listening pleasure"), d'ya think that'd be pimpin' enough? By the way, I doubt the girth of an SME arm tube is adequate for a proper fit :-)F...
Electrostatic-vs-Planar strength, weakness
Jafox makes some good points. The Maggies love lots of power, the more the better, and often but not always are preferred with tubes driving them. Due to their flat profile, the larger models can produce a bit more chest-thumping bass than dipoles...
Help needed on using Loricraft PRC4
No - when working correctly, only the thread should come in contact with the record surface.Brian
Parasound Halo JC-1 -VS- Bryston 7B-ST?
Downunder, at 4-500 hours the JC-1s will sound as you described...at about 1000 hours things dramatically improve, becoming quite lively and involving, at 1200 hours even more so.By the way, I looked at your system. Have you checked which is the l...

Matrix: The purpose of the INVERT function on your Wadia player is to invert phase, not play the disc backwards :-) Many discs are recorded out of phase, so this can be a valuable feature.Keith Herron had a quip at the CES a few years ago: "We wer...
Harry Pearson's comments regarding .....
L'Art du Son LP cleaning fluid is said to be outstanding, and it may be logical to project that the CD fluid should also be very good. Reports are that Audiotop CD fluid is excellent as well. Lower cost yet effective CD treatment solutions include...
Vol. Control, TKD Or Dact For Counterpoint Pre ?
FWIW the CTC Blowtorch preamp uses slightly modified TKD pots. It is suggested to avoid use of Vishay resistors since image height variations are lost or at least diminished.Brian
Solid state amp ultimate stop...
Muralman1, with all due respect David's amplifier is light years ahead of the H2Os... He bought it to drive some massively inefficient speakers which he replaced, but nonetheless the amplifier does very well on his present ones as he indicates...
Sacd/dvd-a, The Hype Is Dead, For Me At Least...
A friend who works for a major audio retailer that sells lots of digital gear including SACD contends in no uncertain terms that SACD is dead, not that it's dying, that it's dead already. Sony killed it is one of the big reasons. And I keep hearin...
Help with my Loricraft machine
Tracking force set incorrectly? If need be, set it to near zero. Best of luck using your wonderful new acquisition!Brian
beveridge speakers are coming back
Rick and his brother are in process of moving from Forestville to a location in southern California to be determined, perhaps near Santa Barbara. One would hope the company will continue.
DK Design Group X-Dream - wow
Lrsky wrote:Everyone, including Wilson is using MDFLarry, I doubt you can back up this claim. After all, Wilson uses their proprietary materials such as X material in their speakers. And "everyone" would include others such as Wilson Benesch (impr...
Best wire to replace stock wiring in preamp?
Solid core dead soft silver is what to use, minimum four nines purity. Don't be tempted to try jeweler's silver. A couple of sources are listed above, although I can't say what the differences are between them.
Best wire to replace stock wiring in preamp?
Teflon insulated solid core silver would be a good way to go.
Best tube pre-amp below US $ 10.000,00 ?
Wc65mustang, just be sure to wear a shirt if you're frying bacon :) That reminds me, time to put the brats on the grill.
