Wilson Audio, Talon, Rockport and B&W Jtinn: your comments are inaccurate. For example, see Michael Fremer's review of the Rockport Antares and measurements taken. By the way, they sell for $41,500.
Wilson Audio, Talon, Rockport and B&W There are huge differences between the speakers you mention, even though some of them are in similar price ranges. If you are looking to make a final purchase, I suggest you consider the history of the respective companies with regards to introduc...
Sound lab - Eminent Technology - Innersound As a Sound Lab owner and dealer, I agree using multiple Marquees would not be satifactory. I suggest finding the space for at least a pair of Dynastats. The other speakers mentioned beam significantly due to their flat panels, which may be a major...
Spectacular Drum Set? More votes for Ed Graham Hot Stix and Dafos. Stunning on vinyl.Forget Charlie Byrd on Crystal Clear: very dry and not necessarily realistic.A couple others that come to mind:Percussion Music on Nonesuch, on HP's list for a long time.Drum Improvs, ...
Where are they now...? Yeah, that's a hoot, Viridian! His amp sounded great and ran hot enough to fry eggs on - makes you wonder if any of them still work. I remember the preamp, too.Brian
What companies, out of Business, did you LOVE??? Jeff, I agree the Soundwaves were pretty darn nice... Another speaker people miss are the Scientific Fidelity Teslas, a true bargain in their day.
Custom Power Cord Company Paul, I stopped using a CPCC Top Gun Super Power Block line conditioner some time ago, but it's a decent product. That said, I should give a disclaimer that I'm a dealer for Creative Cable Concepts, a company founded by a former associate of CPCC ...
Best Tube Preamp for JC-1 Monoblocks? Audio_girl, as far as I know no date has been set for introduction of the JC-2 since it is still in development and getting the details worked out for production takes time. Early '06 probably is realistic, although late '05 may be possible. In an...
Tube Research GT-100, GT-200, Lamm 1.2 for 4 ohm 711, the TRL amps are very nice. I would suggest bringing the rest of your system and room up toward that level before taking the plunge. Everything matters.Brian
Esoteric DV-50: Any cdp's Significantly better? Sean, based upon my limited exposure to the other units I'll keep the G&D/Entec but am always open to suggestions. We didn't listen to the combo except for a while before the other players were put in, and not all were present to hear it. Anyo...
Review: H2o Audio Signature Monoblocks Muralman1, shielding may help but won't stop back EMF from digital gear that can get into the rest of the system.
Esoteric DV-50: Any cdp's Significantly better? Was it WC Fields who said, "Everyone should believe in something. I believe I'll have another drink."Tgun5: how much is the TJR Magnavox with cryo treatment?Brian
Esoteric DV-50: Any cdp's Significantly better? Lazarus28: extra sharp cheddar for me, too - the older the better! But then I've been known to consume processed cheese spreads as well - although I can't remember having Cheez Whiz, I'm willing to try almost anything once, provided it is served a...
Esoteric DV-50: Any cdp's Significantly better? A few comments in response to 711's post.First of all, with regards to the system being dialed in. While by my own admission the speakers had been inadvertently moved due to some moving things around in the system, the rest of the system _was_ dia...
Speakers for Lamm ML2.1 If your room were larger I would strongly consider Siemens Bionors, which the ML2.1s will drive beautifully. Few drivers, simple crossover. |
