Brooks Berdan LTD Monrovia California
Brian's profile on Facebook says, "Former VP/General Manager at Brooks Berdan Ltd." So it would appear to be true. In any event he is a class act, as was his dad.
Anyone with cyrogenic treatment experience?
Be sure you can replace anything you cryo in case you don't like it or it gets damaged, either of which is possible. Cryoing is irreversible.
Audio Research Corp Ref 5 SE
One of my customers traded in his Ref 3 for a used Ref 40th Anniversary. Better, for sure, but "whole 'nuther ballgame", dunno. Could have had a V-8.

Rleff, with the new Toroid II's the speakers are a lot easier to drive, to the point that MA-1s are fine and dandy. You are welcome to call me for more info.

Thanks, Donjr!
Some speaker cables produce lower/higher volume?
No, but odd order harmonic distortion is perceived by the ear as a loudness cue. The amounts of distortion at higher orders may be very small but you will readily hear it. "Turn that down" can often mean turn down the distortion.
Allnic Puritas vs. Koetsu Stone Body
I think you meant to say the 2A is the same as the 3Q without the laser assist. Having demonstrated the 3P at the recent Axpona show here I agree with your remarks on it. A joy to set up. I ran the Feickert software on the system once set up and g...
TRIP TO TORONTO. WHAT TO DO...
I'm flying to Toronto in a few weeks to do a turntable setup and alignment for a customer. It has a great diversity of restaurants, friendly people, and good roadways, not to mention a Timmy's on just about every corner and certainly at every exit...
Help with Cartridge Alignment
The Fozgometer does what it says, it enables you to match crosstalk levels. But does that always occur where the sound is best? Our ears are most sensitive to phase error between the channels, usually measured at 1 kHz. When it is zero there can b...
The Audio Research Reference 10 is here $30k
One of my customers had a Ref 3 for quite a while and recently replaced it with a Ref Anniversary. Is it better? Certainly, but I don't know if I'd call it night and day.I too like manufacturers who offer upgrades when they make sense, not on a ca...
AXPONA anyone?
Buconero, the murder rate in Rosemont, where the Axpona show is being held, is likely nonexistent, unless you cross the mob that allegedly runs the town. But remember, in the bad parts of Chicago (I hear there are a few), walking will keep you hea...
Top monitors 3K - 6K range
Those attending the upcoming Axpona show in Chicago are invited to visit our room, 902, to listen to the Transmission Audio M1i Reference Monitors. $4500/pair.
Bungee Cords
Understood, Geoff. Copper foil is good for shielding, and I suppose as long as it's completely adhered to the surface on which it is mounted such as a window, its acoustic effect should be small. But aluminum foil rattling in the breeze is quite a...
Bungee Cords
Geoffkait: The guy isn't an engineer by any stretch, he's a salesman with an inflated opinion of himself. What's your reaction to the aluminum foil on the walls, used with his Martin Logan speakers?
