Need Help Ripping My CD Collection Audacity. Period.. VERY flexible. Converts formats. Great software without a big learning curve. And it's free. And it can edit tunes. And do playback. It will not do the dishes or make your bed.
Anyone know anything about any of this equipment? LINN, AYRE, TICE, ETC. Try a careful web search. You can dig up original retail value and what that equipment currently sells for.
Speaker upgrade... You have given no personal listening preferences or the type of music you enjoy, size of your listening room, electronics, WAF influence or any other background information.
Best divorce album? Willy Nelson "On the Road Again" or The Who "Won't Get Fooled Again"
Phoenix Engineering Falcon and Eagle Stringreen - I don't have speed variation issues. What I notice is the pulses from the motor being transmitted through the belt to the platter. Reducing the voltage reduces the magnitude of the pulses which reduces the noise. The speed holds qu...
Phoenix Engineering Falcon and Eagle slaw - You must absolutely hate many of the electronics manufacturers. Many put out products only to offer costly upgrades and improved products in a truncated product life-cycle. Frustrating. But technology along with R&D drive the improve...
Phoenix Engineering Falcon and Eagle Speed monitoring is probably not necessary as long as there is sufficient motor torque. Reduction of the voltage to the motor will reduce the pulses in the belt drive. THAT is the real issue. That can be addressed with a small variostat. No sp...
Disaster WAF not too good?
Phoenix Engineering Falcon and Eagle slaw - Why? Maybe they made the smart move by just buying the remaining inventory. What would make them a "surrogate of VPI"? Besides, now those warranties are all in question. How long will those units continued to be supported under warrant...
More from VPI! Chassis looks like a squared-up Prime Sig on rubber feet. Didn't know VPI had a gimbal arm that was in the same league as any of their unipivots.
Should I consider the newer Audio Research pre & power amps, when I play records not CD's You're right. There are few used Herron Audio components for sale even though there are thousands of units out there. Could it be that the owners are so satisfied with them that they find few other components good enough to replace them? What I...
Should I consider the newer Audio Research pre & power amps, when I play records not CD's Go with all Herron Audio. I haven't heard anything better. IMO, VTPH-2 phono stage is as good as it gets, I haven't heard any line stage better than the Herron VTSP-3A (r03). Amps are extremely good. No coloration, no distortion. Just the music.
Preamp choice for a Dynaco ST-35 amp The Dyna is a good choice. But make sure the preamp is fully warmed-up, a full minute or more, BEFORE you power up the amp. And make sure you power down the amp and wait 30 seconds or so BEFORE you power down the preamp. The PAS 3X can shoot so...
Who thinks $5K speaker cable really better than generic 14AWG cable? There was an article a few years ago in (IIRC) Stereophile or some audiophile rag that tested several high end speaker cables. They also tried a few "underground" solutions including a pair of 10ga (or was it 8ga) stranded copper THHN cable (petr...
Which pre should I choose? My current preference is a Herron VTSP-3A (r03). It is rich and full in tone and harmonics. It is also quite dynamic and time alignment is as good as it gets. I have heard nothing better. |
