Smooth/Musical Bookshelves upto $1500 - $2000 I can recommend both the Audioengine 2 and 5s, Paradigm mini monitor 6s, ATC 7s, and the new Dali speakers.
Speakers to compliment McIntosh MC452 and MC 205 I have heard some nice music played using the B & W Diamond series at a dealer in NYC. Seems to compliment the warmer McIntosh sound. Great mid-range and soundstage.I have also heard McIntosh 7000 integrated amp drive ATC 19s. This is a very p...
Best sounding Santana debut and 3rd album The first album is unique in that it has no compression introduced as part of the mixing process. Very interesting to test volume control with this one, as it seemlessly builds. I have heard it through ATC 150s at 103 to 112 decibels and it is qui...
Best CD I've heard so far 2011......... RichardKaren O is the bomb.
Album Of The Year 2011 Love Laura Marling. Agree with everything Richard says. The other sleeper album for me was the Throwdowns "Legs of our Own". Band is from Maui and gets no mainland support. Erin Smith is a witty song writer and the band is fantastic live. Guitarist...
headphones-amp combination The other models you should look at are the Shure 940s, Grado 500 and Fostex 7B. I use the 7506 for pure mid-range smoothness (kind of like BBC monitors) which pairs well to Jazz and rock and the Fostex 7B for blues, R & B, hip hop and electro...
headphones-amp combination Excuse me, a typo, it is Sony 7506s.
headphones-amp combination I have heard a great many headphones. One of the classic ones are the Sony 5706 pro monitors ($90) and some of the mid-tier Grados (200 to 300). Very musical versus very detailed.Audeze have great bass but I find them fatiquing over time. Ultra pr...
Which band's vinyl catalog is consistently great? XTC is also uniformly great.
Best CD I've heard so far 2011......... Little Roy "Battle for Seattle." Reggae covers of Nirvana songs. The arrangements are brilliant and the CD throws off a nice soundstage.
If you could bring back one great artist that has Jimi. Always wonder where he would have gone over the decades. Certainly, his last sessions were more funky and "black." Still, hard to imagine a better rock guitarist.
Best CD I've heard so far 2011......... Opening in October 2012 in Newport Beach. We are building it out as we speak. 350 seats.
Top 5 Hamburgers I went to the Original Wineburger in Phoenix and thought it was amazing, I believe off your recommendation. Can't wait to try this new recommendation.
Best CD I've heard so far 2011......... RichardI saw his warm up dates with Atoms for Peace, his effort to peform his solo material live. Incredible. Flea from the PHCP plays bass. I heard they laid down some new tracks.
What are the "must have" HD Tracks albums? I agree. I find digital now is coming into its own realm again as state-of-the-art techniques move out of the pro studio and down to the end consumer. |
