Anyone dislike Ohm Walsh speakers?
@gimmer Interesting that you returned them after one month with two months left on your trial period.  I bought mine in late 2009 and if they continued to sound like they did after one month, I would have returned them also.  The biggest changes c...
Are the new Ohm Walsh speakers Audiophile quality?
@circusdevil Did you ever voice your concerns on the fit and finish with anyone at Ohm?  In 2009, when I got my 2000s, I pointed out a few issues with the cabs and the caps.  Ohm made good on everything, and then some.  Still, for the price they c...
Qobuz hell
My $0.02... Qobuz is the first and only streaming service I have used.  In combo with Roon, I find navigation pretty easy using search function.  Sound is pretty good, streamed through Sonore Ultra Rendu into Sonore Ultra Digital into a Denafrips ...
Innovative Autio in NYC just hung up on me
New Yawkaz are LOUD!  They sort of have to be.  It's a noisy town.  Was it just her volume level, or was she being nasty?
Favourite Guitarists
+1 for Brian Setzer, also: James Honeyman Scott (Pretenders) James C. Heath (The Reverend Horton Heat)
Add a Linear power supply or iFi SPDIF Purifier2?
Another option from SGC is a more basic fiber optic converter, you get a pair of them, a cable and wall warts for $350.  Not sure if it is a big step down from the pricier bundle with a Sonore converter on one side.  I am considering buying one of...
Candidates for best speakers in the $2000-5000 market
Happy owner for 12 years of Ohm Walsh 2000s.  Provided your room volume is compatible, I would highly recommend an in home audition.  Ohm gives you 120 days to let them break in and sound their best.   My review is posted in the review section he...
Thought I’d share: Nicely done and practical DAC review
Another happy Pontus II owner here.  I agree with the review, although I don't use cans, only speakers.  The review makes me want to try balanced cables from the Denafrips to my pre.  Even though the pre goes to my amp via unbalanced cables, maybe...
Optical vs Ultra Rendu.
So, as an update, I gave up trying to avoid Chi-Fi and bought a Denafrips Pontus II DAC. This has an I2S over HDMI that is compatible with the I2S output of the UltraDigital. Although I could just use USB from the UR into the DAC, this way I can u...
Who is Gonna Buy A New Jeep Grand Wagoneer For the MacIntosh Stereo?
FWIW, I had a 2003 Outback Subaru with a McIntosh stereo. While the car was too noisy when in motion to appreciate it, the stereo was actually good, for a car stereo.  And it was designed, if not built, by McIntosh.  I used to commute close to two...
Considering Towers in the $3000 range
Depending on your room's cubic footage, either the Ohm Walsh 1000 or 2000.  I have had my 2000s since 2009, and the honeymoon is still going strong.
Sad songs- We love them- We need them
Start to Stop - Martha and the Muffins Everybody Knows - Leonard Cohen (but I prefer cover by Concrete Blonde) Lady Grinning Sole - David Bowie Don’t Get it Back - Veruca Salt Just about half of the Aimee Mann catalog. No one said it Would be...
Cables to settle brightness
@fittebd my old DAC was a highly modified Beresford, maxed out at 96/24 and lacked USB.  I still have it, so if I had some time, I could go from the UltraDigital to the Beresford with a coax cable.  I have enough inputs on my pre to hook both DACs...
Cables to settle brightness
@earthtones I am considering the Sonore optical converter boxes.  Reasonably priced, and returnable if it doesn't do the trick.  My digital chain is already kind of a Rube Goldberg contraption, and this would make it moreso.  But if it works, who ...
Cables to settle brightness
@duckworp I doubt it's the Denafrips.  It's the fifth DAC I tried and best sounding of all except maybe my old DAC, which wasn't as good sounding in other ways, much more homogeneous sounding, making everything sound warm and smooth with reasonabl...
