Denafrips FPGA Firmware Update
@bobo1000 Just FYI, I avoided the first update because of the reports of increased brightness.  But opinions were very different regarding 1.4.  I took a chance and I am very pleased with the upgrade.  If there was any added brightness I would hav...
How to prevent visitors from touching your system
@dabel You jogged my memory. My wife once had a playgroup daily in our basement. My rig for both HT and 2 channel audio we in one corner of the basement. I installed a Roman shade to block off all the gear. The only thing I had to move was the sea...
McIntosh C22 (old & new) vs C2600
FWIW, there are two modern innovations in newer Macs that I think are a big plus. First is the sealed, gas filled control knobs. This prevents dirt from degrading performance over time. Second is LED lighting, which eliminates the need to replace ...

Would It Be Possible To Get Help Finding This Song?
I once had a similar issue.  I forget the web site, maybe Wikipedia, but I Googled the TV show, located the episode, and there was a song list of music used for that episode, with artist names and song titles.  Start by Googling the 5, look for an...
Looking for an Amp Replacement
In your budget, I would consider what I own and love.  Arion Audio makes the S-500 in your price range.  It is a switching amp, but I have yet to find any fault with it.  It is powerful, at 500 watts/channel, sounds clean, cool running, and has be...
McIntosh C22 (old & new) vs C2600
BTW, if you go for a used or demo unit, or there aren't any McIntosh dealers near you, check out Audio Classics.  I got my used C220 there.  Ryan has provided stellar support and service over the years since then.
McIntosh C22 (old & new) vs C2600
I have owned a C220 for about 12 years and I love it.  I did roll the tubes to some Millard reissues.  Sounds great.  I think the 2600 is similar to the C220, plus meters and a better phono section.

Denafrips FPGA Firmware Update
Based on the reception the 1.4 version was getting, I updated my Pontus II over the long Memorial day weekend.  It took me two tries, but at least I didn't brick the DAC.  The most frustrating aspect of the process was the instructions.  It would ...

Air conditioning for audiophiles.
@rlj I just watched that video.  I don't know what's wrong with Paul's LG unit, but my Trane ductless split is whisper quiet.  I only can hear the fan in "turbo" mode.  It does a great job of cooling, dehumidifying and heating my basement man cave...
Integrating speakers into contemporary decor - can WAF ever be overcome?
In answer to the question, can WAF ever be overcome?  The answer is yes, but you may end up paying alimony or serving a lengthy prison sentence.  My personal solution is the basement man cave.
Your audiophile chair
IMHO, you never want anything that rises above your shoulders.  I inherited a pair of Stressless lounge chairs with Ottomans.  They are sized differently.  The smaller one was ideal, in that it comes up to the bottom of my neck.  Even though I am ...
A ridiculously cheap cable riser.
This thread is a hoot! I would never spend a lot of money on cable risers. But, a few years back, I was offered a bag of 10 trapezoid cut foam pieces for a few bucks. For that price, and the price of these rebar seats, I figured there’s no harm in...
