Advice on bulk record pricing?
I think Elizabeth nailed it, as far as record shows go. I go to a local show, in Springfield, NJ, each quarter, and usually pay between $1 and $3 for decent condition LPs. IIRC, tables at this show cost $60 each. It is well attended, but the deale...
Ohm Walsh Micro Talls: who's actually heard 'em?
None I can think of.
alternative to maggies?
I own a pair of Ohm Walsh 2000s. Many who have owned Maggies feel the Ohms come pretty close to the Maggie speed and timbre, but with more extension in the bass, and less fussy set-up. Plus, the only part of a Walsh tower that would appeal to a ca...
Subwoofer added to Martin Logan Spires
A lot of work went into mating the woofers in the Spires to the panels, so I would not unplug the Spire amps. If possible, cross over the M-Ls at a lower frequency to the JL sub. Experiement for the best crossover setting. Just my $0.02.

AFAIK, Duets are limited to leftover stock - both the Duet & Quintet (which I use) are out of production. A replacement for the Quintet is soon to be available, at $500. I have not heard anything about a replacement for the Duet. I would look ...

Ohm Walsh Micro Talls: who's actually heard 'em?
Kbuzz - While it would be very difficult to find another brand that was a good match in timbre for the Ohms, if your AVR or pre-pro has a room EQ feature, you should be able to get a better match than without that feature. Especially helpful is an...
Ohm Walsh Micro Talls: who's actually heard 'em?
Kbuzz - If you read back through this thread, you'll see that I started with a pair of Ohm 2000s to replace my mains in my combo 2-channel/7.1 home theater. I then grabbed a pair of MWTs used on Audiogon to replace my surrounds, then ordered a cen...

Carja: My situation mirrors Mapman - we're even the same age! I love vinyl, own and still buy LPs, and spin them fairly often. But, the pleasure and ease of use from my Squeezebox Touch and server combo is fantastic. I only have about 20% of my CD...
Ohm Walsh Microtall or Vandersteen 1C
Heywaj10 - Ohm Walsh + Porcupine Tree = Sonic Heaven!!!!
What is meant by subwoofer room pressurization?
It's one of those things that you'll understand once you experience it. It's a sense that the whole room has become an enclosure for your bass drivers, and you're sitting inside the woofer's cabinet.
Best tubed full-function preamp with remote
Just a few thoughts. I own a C220, which replaced a C-J PV11. For my amplifier, the C220 is a much better match, and I am quite pleased with it. That said, a McIntosh rep told me recently that there is little sonic difference between the line stag...
going Pass Labs, do I need "Class A " ?
I recently visited a Pass dealer, who explained that Pass amps are more alike than different, but are rated differently. IOW, the class A amps do indeed cross over to Class B beyond their rated class A power. A Pass class A model rated at 100 watt...

Batch - What Frazuer said, +1. I ran them plenty, and at all levels, during the trial period, and the changes were significant and obvious. FWIW, I don't think break-in, especially for loudspeakers, has much to do with "getting used to" the new sp...
New speakers wanted?
Oh, sure. But if I try to post something with an info link, I get rejected!
