SUT decision: Ortofon Verto vs Ortofon STA6600L
I have written a short article on impedance loading that may help explain the differences. http://www.bobsdevices.com/What-about-Impedance.html
SUT decision: Ortofon Verto vs Ortofon STA6600L
I Don't know if it is ok for me to discuss my own product here, but since it is moderated, I will let the moderator decide. I will not give my personal opinion but just refer to a few reviews of the 1131 http://cinemag.biz/news/STRP-120500.pdfhttp...
Replacing Turntable RCA cables
I have done it both ways with the 4002. You can use new cables and solder them directly to the internal circuit board, or you can get cables made (DIN to RCA) to connect to the existing DIN connector. If you are planning to use premade patch cable...
Calling all owners - Jasmine LP 2.0 MKII
I own both of them and will be using both of them at the Rocky Mountain Audio Fest with the VPI Classic 4 (2 tonearm) turntable. Anyone is welcome to stop by and hear the difference. Personally, I can't hear any difference. Interesting thing about...
2013 RMAF Analog Reports + Meet and Greet
I will be in the main ballroom with a VPI Classic 4 with 3D tonearms and Bob's Devices SUTs.
VPI Classic 4, any one have it?
I will be demoing a classic 4 with Rosewood Base at the Rocky Mountain Audio Fest with 2 tonearms, one of them will be the 3D arm.
Koetsu RoseWood Standard upgrade?
SUTs have come a long way recently. Reducing the inductance has made them more transparent. An active stage has to do a lot to the signal and you are actually introducing a lot to the signal path with an active stage. You are introducing another s...
Koetsu RoseWood Standard upgrade?
Dear Rauliruegas,It would be helpful if you elaborated on which active phono stages and which SUTs you used to make the comparison to determine that an active stage sounds better.Respectfully,Bob
Koetsu RoseWood Standard upgrade?
I am using a Koetsu Azule Platinum on my JMW 12.7 arm and it sounds great with damping fluid. Without the fluid it is lacking in bass response.
I need help and phonostage suggestions
Dhcod,Granted, I have not heard all those phono stages in my system to be able to compare them. Again, I am speaking only from the MM stage perspective. In audio, there is alway something better, and if I hear it, I will likely buy it.
Soundsmith VPI Zephyr vs. Dynavector 17D3??
Did you try setting your nighthawk to 47 k ohms with the Zephyr? You might want to also try the second and third lowest gain setting along with it.
I need help and phonostage suggestions
I have to chime in. I am personally using the B2B Liberty in my home system. I have used a LOT of phono stages. I build Step up transformers and don't usually write in because I play by the rules. Anyway, in recent times I had used a GCPH heavily ...
What is the Phono stage you have finished with?
Going back over the last 5 years, I went from a NAD 3020 to a Cullen Modified GCPH to a KRELL KPE to a Jasmine 2.0 MKII and just recently to a Liberty B2B. Each move was a significant upgrade. I only use the MM section and use a step up transfomer...
Mint Protractor for the Classic Toneram 10.5i-SE
Ken Willis makes a custom protractor (Accutrak) for any specific application. Just send him the model turntable and tonearm and also measure the pivot to spindle distance. http://www.audiocircle.com/index.php?topic=97229.0 Manufacturing tolerances...
Vintage TT - looking to add one - recommendations?
I own a Yamaha PX-2 and a PX-3. They are linear trackers, direct drive and really do a good job for me. I like the PX-2 better since it has a heavier platter and better feet, but I would recommend them both.
