What Do You Think?
Thank you for the advice.  I agree and will pass on them.  The seller sounds sincere and knowledgeable, but don’t they all?  You might have saved me the aggravation.  Stay safe and take care.
Is 1990's equipment vintage?
Before purchasing my starter-audiophile system earlier this year, my stuff was in the “old junk” category:  A 1991 Sony AV receiver that I have given to my nephew;  a pair of Jensen loudspeakers from the late 1980’s, likewise given to nephew; a Ke...
How do you feel about a wheeled dolly permanently under large floorstanding speakers?
@douglas_schroeder, can you recommend, with a link preferably, the type of casters you are referring to?  I have thicker carpet over concrete slab and currently use spikes, but I would love to have an easy way to move my 60 pound speaker towers.  ...
One year down, two to go. What's the longest you have saved for one component?
I believe in that old saying, “One person’s ceiling is another’s basement”.  I worked in a low-paying profession for 37 years, lost a house in the divorce, put my son through college.   I’m now retired, so I have even less monthly income.  I am fr...
Negotiate good price
I’m still new to all of this, but I thought a salesperson’s job is to sell.  Not everyone is chomping at the bit to lay down big cash (and from what I have seen, if you are considering equipment on Audiogon, you are looking to lay down big cash), ...
I may need to join A'gon Anonymous (AA)
I enjoy looking over the offerings, but I never anguish over anything shown.  My budget is limited, and most of what I see listed on Audiogon is way above my limit of affordability.  But still it’s fun to look and imagine — like perusing the cars ...
Have speakers really improved within the last 20 years??
I have wondered about those people who seem to prefer vintage equipment over more recent offerings.  Receivers from 40 years ago, like Pioneer SX1280 and Marantz 2500, fetch prices of $2500, while I have seen JBL 100 speakers listed for $2,000 for...
Desire to try tubes
I'm not unhappy with my SS gear, but I admit that I'm curious about the vaunted "tube sound".  From everything I've read, that Cronus Magnum iii looks to be a quality integrated.  Wish I knew someone locally who has one.  Don't know if the local H...
Try to train them...again, or simply shoot them?
I like the idea of making copies of CD’s and giving the copies to people who ask to borrow.  I wish I had done that a few times.  Obviously, some people care for things and some others do not — not even their own things.  No one I know plays recor...
Thinking about the good old days...
My first real stereo (not counting the cheap all-in-one Electrophonic) began at age 16 with a Pioneer SX626 receiver I asked for and received for Christmas — was very pleased!  My initial speakers were a pair of Realistic Nova 7’s, but I upgraded ...
Who are your three favorite female singers?
My favorite three:Alison KrauseLinda RonstadtBonnie RaittLove the voice of Italian songstress, Laura Pausini, too.So many other great singers/songwriters listed here.
Poor Fritz
I had not heard of Fritz or his speakers until I read b_limo’s thread the other day.  Curious, I did slight research — he seems like a great guy, but then I checked the price for his Fritz Carrera 7-something (costs new $3500 for the pair).  They ...
Trigger Trouble
@imhififan:   Exactly right!  I did just as you instructed and it works now.  👏.  I will put a sticky note on that page of manual so that any future users will know how to do it.  Thank you Sir!Yet again I benefit from solid advice from the good p...
Am I too big of a jerk, even for audiogon?
Erik, in my experience you are nothing like a jerk.  Your posts are reasonable and helpful.  I look forward to reading what you have say.
Update on Audiogon Member Almarg
I didn’t get to know Al like many of you have, but he is obviously a fine gentleman and much loved.  I pray for his comfort and strength and the same for his loved ones.  We all hope for a best outcome.
