Is it worth upgrading tonearm wiring
Assuming you have average internal wire, then it should be a big upgrade if you rewire it with top notch wire. I'd recommend a rewire job by Audio Origami in the UK, and the more expensive Kondo wire.
EAR 834P faceplate replacement?
I'd contact a dealer in the UK rather than the US distributor. It's probably much cheaper out of the UK and a faceplate is not 230V.
MintLP arc protractor
Do you know if Yip will be basing the protractor on Stevenson or Baerwald or Loefgren? I am curious because I heard that Stevenson is best if using a mounting distance of 222 mm. Not sure how credible this is.
Is Jim Smith's Book"Get Better Sound"Best Book ?
Just wanted to share a thought on Jim's book. The best part of the book for me was the tips and suggestions and techniques for speaker placement. They helped give me a more practical approach to speaker setup because the process is more thought ou...
Dynavector DV 20X-L -- which MM will better it?
I had a couple of 20XH's but a long time ago. I'd look at SoundSmith for a MM/MI alternative. I don't know that you'll find anything better than the 20X, most likely just different. I think the SoundSmith is different than the 20X in the way you w...
Question for Rega Arm and Mint Tractor Owner
Guys, I'm glad you like the mint. I love my first one too. But can you answer my question regarding the stylus position relative to the front of the headshell? The suspense is killing me. BTW, my new arm is a Techno too.
Orbe SE/Phantom: Suspension Issues?
I heard of a Michell dealer in Montreal who heard a customers Gyro or Orbe with that arm and said it sucked. It wasn't because of mass and suspension either. He said it was to do with how arms on the Michell's need to dump energy to the table and ...
EAR 834P tube swapin
You should replace the stock tubes and the suggestions above are good ones. The 5751 in V3 (front position) is very nice as it is more focused than a 12ax7 but IMO it is a little more analytical.I would also replace the coupling caps. It is a far ...
Spacedeck compared with Gyrodec SE
OK, I just have one more question about the conditions under which you have listened to these two tables, just so we can understand the complete context. Did you listen to the two tables in the same system/room with the same equipment at the shop?...
Spacedeck compared with Gyrodec SE
I am surprised that somone finds the spacedeck to be literally superior to the Gyro in detail, musicality and pace (same as speed consistancy, yes?). I would have thought that they would be equals on some terms and one better than the other in oth...
Spacedeck compared with Gyrodec SE
I have not heard a 17D2, but I understand it is quite the cartridge that digs out a lot of info. The Shelter would be a great choice, and probably more musical than the 17D2. I would say your decision probably depends on the type of system you hav...
Spacedeck compared with Gyrodec SE
Great choices in tables and overall a dynamite plan you have plotted out. I have not heard the Spacedeck/Spacearm, but I have owned 2 different Gyro SEs and they are great. Great new DC motor, fantastic engineering, sprung so its not prone to foot...
Teres/Scheu-Help
TWL. I would only recommend a Scheu over a Teres because of my experience with a Teres, which is obviously different than yours. I have no experience with a Scheu. Never seen one. I can barely spell it. I only said that I would recommend buying di...
Teres/Scheu-Help
TWL - lets try and stick to the facts when posting on this forum and not being a bigot towards one particular tt and making statements like you did that are not based on real experience. Everyone who posts advise on this forum should practice this...
Teres/Scheu-Help
TWL - how do you know Teres succeeded in bettering a Scheu? Have you compared a Scheu to a Teres? Side-by-side, same everything? Has anyone? Or are you just speculating that a Teres is 'subjectively'? If you are speculating, on what basis do you t...
