Martin Logan Aeons help?
Although I prefer tubes (and that's what I use), I also have a Classe CA200 (ie transistors) and it is excellent. I don't think one necessarily NEEDS tubes, especially if your family is like mine and does not want to wait while they warm up, etc.g...
Ceiling speakers for Home theater.....
How about Thiel Power Points? I laughed the first time I saw them (literally), but I stopped laughing when they played. They make very good L/C/R speakers. For surrounds, you could use more PoewrPoints, or Triad makes good flush-mounts. This might ...
Need suggestions on two channel amp for ML Aerius-
I had Aerius mains for a while - I had the same problem as you, except that mine was made much worse by a bright room. I had to tone down the room first, then I upgraded to a Classe CA200 amp - that made a fairly big difference in the bass. The Ae...
4ohm vs 8 ohm......why one or the other.......
There are quite a few well-known combinations of low-impedance speakers that mate very well with tube equipment. Magnepan and MartinLogan speakers both present pretty low impedence loads and both are generally said to sound better with tube equipm...
Did B&K make a three ch. 105w amp
I have the ST3140, which is a 3-ch 125W amp, but I don't recall hearing of a 105W product.
anyone use line doubler w/Sharp xvz9000u projector
You might want to check over at www.avsforum.com in the "> $5K projector" forum. Lots of knowledgable folks over there, including a LOT of Sharp 9000 users...
Help with Starting a HOme Theater
It'd be helpful to also know if you will spend time watching movies, TV (esp sports), games, etc. Some of these things have a pretty big impact on what you might get.Oh, and how much flexibility you have in arranging the room. For example, I'm in ...
Martin Logan Aeons help?
I would think that you could upgrade to an external power amplifier and satisfy the requirements. You only need two channels of clean power to handle them. I have used non-ML surrounds with my ML L/C/R and it worked fine. I mostly have ML surround...
Room Acoustic Software
I was just considering this stuff, as it looks like I'm stuck in my "temporary" room for much longer than I had originally planned. I have an all-MartinLogan speaker system and I note that there isn't much in the way of ML's in the CARA library. I...
And what do Maggies sound like near a wall......
I'll second the mention of ProAc mini-monitors. I had a pair of ProAc Tablette 50's less than a foot from the back wall, and while they sounded better two feet away, they were pretty good set back near the wall. Tremendously better than planars do...
Are Horn Speakers good or bad or simply a complete joke?
I think they're just different. I have a friend who has some pretty old Klipsch horns, and they sound very nice. I haven't heard them in a few months (they're 290 miles away). They're clearly different from my electrostatics in some subtle ways.I ...
Shhhhhh Don't tell my wife. Looking at B&W 802Ns
My Odysseys helped sell the listening room - there was no way that they were going into a "publik" room!
Bass Management ?
I can't speak for the Denon unit, but my Classe SSP75 definitely crosses over bass to the sub when the mains are set to small. I thought this was wrong, but when I tried it, I discovered that I liked the system better with the sub. The sub's bass ...
Best All In One Learning Remote $500
I don't have the 5200, but I have the 5000. It may actually be the most valuable component in the system, because it makes the system usable for the rest of the family. Without it, I have to use a selection of 11 remotes with a total of about 650 ...
