Recommendations for rolling tubes on Luxman SQ-N10?
@nordicnorm - thank you for the response on the Shuguangs. It'll be something to consider down the road when some of my other 12AX7s are done with. For now, I have a handful of decent ones to play with, but thanks for helping me understand em!@sma...

Yeah, I do believe that a good sub can make a huge difference if set well. Ultimately, if calibrated well, it should minimize crossover distortion and alleviate strain on the floorstanding speakers, allowing them to better deliver the remaining fr...

And I'm disappointed that Tekton hasn't gotten more praise, but Eric is a builder at heart, not a marketer. Maybe I should help him with that! Lots of respect for Tekton here in the forums if you look around.

I'm using the Tekton Lore, which is their most popular model: http://www.tektondesign.com/lore.htmlEric Alexander is the owner of Tekton and he has worked at a number of speaker companies and then Cardas before starting Tekton. I was turned to the...

tablejockey and analogluvr - after reading all of those threads, I was fully convinced that the cart is a worthy investment and a step in the right direction, so I did some research last night on the best places to buy and pulled the plug. Thank y...

Tell me about it! In the last three years that I've had tube equipment, I must have 15 spare tubes lying around. Have you ever tried the regular Shuguang 12AX7's in comparison to the Custom 12AX7 LS? I'm curious as to what you get for the $50 diff...

analogluvr & tablejockey, thanks to you both for the suggestions! I'll definitely look into the ART 9 and ART 7. I haven't heard about those, and given the specs of the 9, it looks like it'll fit really nicely with the VPI and gain that I have...

Hi Raul, thank you for the suggestion on the subs, but I'm really not a fan of them. I used to have them in the past quite a bit, but honestly I've never liked the crossover between those and any towers I've ever owned them with. I am not a bass-h...

Thanks for the advice Nordicnorm. I did get good results with swapping the 12AX7 and tried a NOS Tele and Amperex and liked the Psvane the best. How did rolling the 82s shape the sound for you?

What made you sell the Tannoys? Tekton Design is my first move into a full-range high efficiency speaker, and I do have to say they are amazing, especially for the price. One of my friends have the 1Ci's them and they're nice as well. In terms of r...

Great. Glad someone found some use to it! What cables and interconnects are you using now? Are your Tannoys high efficiency? If anything, I've found that synergy between components makes more of a difference than the quality of a single component....

Thanks Nonoise. I'm not really looking to see what different types of tubes there are out there, but rather, which ones have been tried out on this specific amp. More specifically, I'm wondering if there has been any benefit to rolling the EL84 tu...
Is it worth upgrading my power conditioner to Shunyata?
Thanks everyone! It looks like I'm in pretty good shape. I was able to demo the Shunyata combo with some break in, and it provided a minimal upgrade to the sound in comparison to the Furman PST-8D. For the money, I would have expected it to do mor...
Is it worth upgrading my power conditioner to Shunyata?
Thanks guys. Erik, the PST-8D does have LiFT, and I have noticed a difference since I added it a while ago. It’s definitely quieter, but perhaps also softer, more rounded. As some folks have said that while they notice a difference, it doesn’t alw...
