I'm considering replacing my passive preamp with a tubes. Is it worth it?
@amritash Interesting. Were you streaming (selecting your Node as output) from Tidal, or using the headphone jack from the iPhone as an input to the Bluesound? Considering that the stream should only be data and the Bluesound was converting to dig...
What to add or change for my system?
Other posters have already said it, but to add some weight to their words, three worthwhile considerations are room treatments, isolation feet (vibrapods and support cones worked wonders for me), and a Hubbell cryo'd receptacle all made remarkable...
Isolation products for Integrated Amplifier and Computer used for playing audio
@g_chops I've been using a combination of the vibrapods and vibrapod support cones. Basically I place each vibrapod on the rack, stack the cone facing up, and stack the component on the tips of the cone. The difference is night and day, especially...
Ahhhh...breaking in a cartridge.
I'm in the same boat as you with an ART-9. Just recently switched over from a DV 17d3 and could not be happier. Cartridge break-in is real, but the progress has its ups and downs. It's different for every cartridge but for my ART-9 it actually got...

@amritash what do you feel is missing from the sound coming out of your setup?
Upgrade from DV 17D3, looking for recommendations!
Spencer - good advice all around. I have a set of different LPs across genres when I do this, from jazz, rock, modern composition, indie, electro, etc. I love the response regarding the warm apple pie. The Shelter is definitely the warmest and thi...

So initial impressions are all positive, but still going to wait for some magic to happen over the next week or two. I've got about 12 hours of break in with the cartridge in the last two days and bass response is improved with the ART 9 for sure....
Best Cable Match for: Creek 4330SE + Rega Apollo + Vandersteen 2C
@jsbach1685 One thing you may have to consider as well (as much as it is a highly debated topic) is cable burn in, especially with silver and silver-coated copper cables. I have DH Labs cables and am a strong proponent of them, using Q-10s for my ...

@tablejockey Forget what I said about the VTA. Turns out that one of my adjustment screws was in too far and wasn't allowing the path to descend further. I got it now.

My Art 9 shipped in yesterday, so I got to put it on this morning and play around with it a bit! I'll give some initial thoughts in the next day or two, but I don't want to review prematurely. I'll also A/B with the 17d3 since I have multiple armw...
Looking for speaker ideas.
@gdnrbob I live in Jackson Heights. You're welcome to come by some time and have a listening session with my Tekton Lore, but I won't be letting them out of my apartment! PM me if you want to set up a time. I think there is also a pair of Tekton E...
ROI. Where is money better spent?
First step in good room treatment is setting up your system within the room (how far your speakers are from your wall, how far apart they are from each other, and how far they are from you). This all depends on the room dimensions. After placement...
Looking for speaker ideas.
For a Zu competitor, check out Tekton Design. Both companies hand build their speakers in Utah, and while Zu have some models that look classier, Tekton is no fluff, all performance at an affordable cost. I have the Tekton Lore with upgraded capac...
Looking for a Speaker Recommnedation
@fdemello - I'm getting to this one a little late, but I do second the recommendation @bache gave. I never heard of Tekton Design until six months ago, and after a lot of research, I purchased the Tekton Lore and I seriously cannot be happier. Giv...

Just to give a brief update, tonight I just did an A/B test with the 17d3 and my previous cartridge, an Ortofon 2M Black, which was very easy considering I have two arm wands for the VPI Classic. The bass out of the 2M Black was intense, while the...
