Help me spend $100,000 on a new system @skyscraper My suggestion would be to watch this video and then design a fantastic listening room. It could well be that $10,000 spent here is all you will need to fully enjoy your current system without spending any more. https://www.google....
what should I get to replace what I am planning to try The image is all in your mind. I suggest you close your eyes while listening and problem solved. You're welcome. Cheers.
What was the first power cable that you noticed a difference in the sound? @ditusa Sounds interesting. The best PC is no PC. So did you open up the amp cases and hard-wire directly from the wall box to the amp internally, or did you skip the wall box completely and run a continuous cable from you main panel directly in...
What was the first power cable that you noticed a difference in the sound? @pindac I have read the manufacturing process for PC Triple C Wire and I'm lost as to the benefit. If I understand it correctly, they are repeatedly working the copper to end up with all the crystals aligned. And yet, with the OCC continuous ca...
Many Questions Need Help @audiomike33 This checks all the boxes, but you are 1 zero short on the budget. We can still dream though. 😄 https://feliksaudio.pl/product/envy/
What was the first power cable that you noticed a difference in the sound? @lcherepkai I agree with your final comment "why don't you simply experiment, and listen", however I feel much of your post is apples/oranges re the OP's question. The majority of your post talks about "signals" and how they are affected by vari...
What was the first power cable that you noticed a difference in the sound? @pureclarity One of the other contributors to this thread has stated the exact opposite to your contention that front end equipment is where better PC's make the biggest difference. Got to love this forum for clarity and consensus, 🤣
What was the first power cable that you noticed a difference in the sound? @carlsbad2 I find your first suggestion very interesting. If I understand you correctly, there are amp designs that manage power in such a way as to make power cables a non issue, assuming of course you are using any decent cables that can carr...
Room acoustics basics https://digistar.cl/Forum/viewtopic.php?t=557 I found this to be a very interesting read. It touches on many of the accepted theories of room design and adds some new thoughts. It includes a room dimension calculator so you can plug in differen...

Happy Thanksgiving to All! What?? Thanksgiving was last month. October 9th. 🤣 But best wishes all the same.
Interesting video on cables That was a fascinating video. It's hard for me to comprehend the amount of engineering and execution that Apple has put into a $130 cable. It makes the long video Cardas produced to show how they produce their speaker cable, seem somewhat unimpr...
Ideas for Pre/Power $9000? @lfromsalem Might I suggest you look for a used Hegel H390. Should be able to find at half you budget? Beautiful integrated amp with very good DAC. IMHO
Ultrasonic cleaning @lnitm I use an ultrasonic machine with a tank of Distilled water, a cap full of Spin-Clean washer fluid MK3, about 2 drops of Mr. Clean and a 1/2 cap full of Kodak Photo-Flo 200. The photo-flo causes the water to sheet off without any spotting...
BEST little know Jazz Album that you ever heard? There are so many, but for Chet Baker fans, the double CD "Blue Room". Recorded in Holland in 1979 but as far as I know, only just released in 2023. Chet's playing is superb and the recordings are excellent. IMHO one of his best. |
