Building a 100 album vinyl collection 3 must have albums are? @norton Don't hear a lot about Climax Blues Band. Always liked them. Recently picked up a nice box set (Amazon) containing their first 5 recordings. Put out by the Esoteric Recordings label. Going back to 1969 for the first two records, it's v...
Why Do You Listen? A Poll Question I take exception with your first hypothesis. Why would anyone "choose" to listen to bad audio quality?
Building a 100 album vinyl collection 3 must have albums are? I own many of the LPs suggested and agree they are great records. However, my criteria for 3 must have LPs would need to take into account how they actually sound of a good system. Many of the LPs I grew up loving, get very little play today as ...
Building a 100 album vinyl collection 3 must have albums are? When an OP clearly asks for 3 selections, why do so many insist on posting a much larger number?
Who has the Sickness, the Phile or the Non-phile? I don't see it as a difference between audiophiles and non. I see it as a difference between people who feel music is a very important part of their life and the others who don't really think about it. The quality of the system is secondary. Su...
Building a 100 album vinyl collection 3 must have albums are? I always find these kinds of posts interesting as I, like everyone else I'm sure, looks at so many selections and thinks somewhat incredulously, WTF? How could anyone feel "that" record is a must have? 🤣
Well built, aesthetically pleasing wooden cabinets I no longer own these, but the Acoustic Zen Crescendo Mark 2 were more like beautiful furniture than any other speaker I've had. I would think the quality of the cabinets would complete favorably with any speaker that prizes the wood finish.
Does it make sense to "ignore low ball offers"? My personal experience when selling is this. When a lowball offer has been made, I usually look at the persons buy/sell history. Often, you find a person who has bought a lot of stuff. More than is reasonable for personal use, and has sold abo...
Thoughts On Turntable Clamps And Weights The vast majority of my vinyl is very flat to start with. Does adding a weight not add unnecessary strain on the TT motor?
Not Chinese Fakes But Not big $$$ Either @tksteingraber They sound as good as any cable I have owned. Was able to switch in and out with XLO Signature 3 - 5.2 and Silversmith Fidelium cables. I couldn't really tell the difference between the three sets. Maybe I don't belong to the Gol...
How cam Morrow Audio keep offering 45%-65% discounts for trade-ups? @wolf_garcia The same guy who paid full price for a mattress! 🤣
How cam Morrow Audio keep offering 45%-65% discounts for trade-ups? I own Morrow cables and like them very much. Buying during their 65% off annual event around Christmas is the only number that means anything to me. So, is their MA7 Interconnect Pair - 144 SSI, XLR, 2 meter worth $750? For me the answer is yes...
Leaving my amplifier on ok? Since the argument against leaving your SS amps on 24/7 is the damage caused by heat (mostly), what is the temp of your equipment both when in use and when idling? At Idle, my Hegel H30 measures +/- 90F on the warmest part of the case and 100F is...
Leaving my amplifier on ok? @curiousjim You are correct about the standby mode in many of the Hegel amps. Unfortunately, My H30's don't have the standby option. It's on or off and nothing in between.
Leaving my amplifier on ok? After reading so many differing opinions on this subject, I asked the manufacturer, in my case Hegel, if there was any harm caused by leaving my H30 Mono amps powered on 24/7, and is the rush of current at startup more harmful than constant power.... |
