What is the overall consensus on the CJ Premier 17 I compared the CJ 17 MKI to the ARC LS25 MK II a few years ago. The CJ has a very nice warm sound to it and the ARC is more detailed. Combining the two is what I have been looking for but that has not happened in this price range. I have not heard...
Dan Wright "Absolute Truth" mod for SCD-1 / 777es I am also thinking about the Kern mod for my Sony 777ES. I have decided to try the SuperclockII and transport mod just because the link noted above said that it was the biggest bang for the buck. I have heard that the full blown tube output mod by...
Anyone Heard The New Fried Speakers? I called Fried Products the other day and they will be offering two new floor standing speakers and they are sending me info. That is all I know so far. I saw the ad in Stereophile and I tried the website which was not up as of yet.Still will be t...
Has anybody else tried LITZ wire for speakers? Do not hold me to this but I think that Mosnseter used LITZ but does not any more. The old cable was so close to perfection but missed something in the final design. You should also try a Ferrite block on the cables. Did you isolate the pos and ne...
UPS & Small Claims Court? I was going to send a BAT preamp to CA and when to the UPS store. The guy asked me is that the original box, and I said yes it is in great shape. He told me that they may not pay a claim since the box was used already. He also advised me to double...
Mosfet vs. Bipolar revisited and the Belles 350A The Belles is a great amp for the price, he has always designed very good products but was not well known.
Masking tape: speaker setup trick... Yes and you can use a ruler to mark down some 1/4" lines so that you can adjust and listen also.
Tube dampers? Besides the tube damper rings, you want to add some weight to the top of each tube, some lead. There used to be a company that made hi hats I think that worked well but were expensive. You can make your own by going to a crafts store and buying so...
Next Generation SACD Players The MuFi is one of trhe best combo players in the market now. Add some weight to the top to stop the flimsy top from ringing and it will sound even better. I will be getting my Sony 777 modded just to see what it can do and to hold onto some cash ...
Jazz/blues guitarist suggestions for SRV fan. The clone of SRV is Kenny Wayne Shepared. If you want a jazzy instrumental jazz/blues sound like in Riviera Paradise, Ronnie Earl and the Broadcasters, he is the man. He is more jazz/blues like Rivera than versus the other SRV more blues/rock soun...
Amp shopping - recommendations anyone? There are a ton of amps out there and some may add a little of this and a little of that but IMHO you get a bigger improvement with a better CDP and speakers. I tried over 12 amps last year and I now realize that my system was more limited by the ...
Which CD player to buy, Sony, Meridian, Theta, or? The Meridian bettered my Sony SCD-777ES CDP by a little but the Sony was cold right out of the box and the Meridian was being discontinued. I think a modded Sony will better the Meridian which is were I am heading for now. I liked the Meridian ove...
Opinions on tubes What improved the sound of my tube amp and preamp was adding the little lead weights to the tubes along with damping rings, the added weight was a good overall improvement and cheap.
Power Amp Tweaking IMHO you do not want to remove vibration by coupling the amp to the floor, you want to remove the vibrtaion by letting the amp float. I have put plastic cups under the legs on my amp stand screwing them in where the spikes were and then I put raqu...
active or passive? You can use a passive preamp when you have a buffer like an active cross-over IMHO. Otherwise you loose dynamics. |
