New to the game. Need some beginners advice.
You need to first learn what you like from your system. No two are alike and nobody else hears what you hear or prefer. Once you undertand that you can move forward. Buying gear that you can resell for your purchase price or make a profit is alway...
speakers under 1,500 excellent top to bottom sound
Agree with Jrinkerptdnet, the Alon Vs are a steal used going for under $1K. Send the woofers to Miller Sound in PA and he will make them even better.Happy Listening.

What is my next step to a better sound ?
I was thinking about this around one year ago. I was trying to find a better source for digital playback thinking that the source was the most important component to make the best upgrade to the next level. Well is does matter very much but what h...
Old vs. New
I don't know but I'd put my old Lafayette KT-550 tube power amp up against anything out there today and it would probably beat most of all the new power amps today. You can't find transformers like the ones it this amp anymore. Others are the Quic...
Musical Fidelity old vs new
Cannot help you with those models but the newer 1000Wpc Mono blocks are way better then the older models.
Allman, Clapton, and Simon
"Well, ever since my mid-1970's high school days, I've always been a big fan of Greg Allman, Eric Clapton, and Paul Simon. So, naturally, now that I'm a 55 yr. old music lover"God you are F--ing old. I am only 54! HA! But I still love these guys to.
Which speakers?
For largely classical, instrumental, and jazz I would look at the Alon speakers that come up for sale here. They are so cheap but have a very musical sound, open, airy, with good bass. They are also very dynamic and sound very good with a cheap NA...
Review: Coincident Speaker Technology Statement Linestage Tube preamp
"While I was not previously aware of much missing, the line stage added so much more life to my set up it sounded as if my 8 watt set amps now were 80 watts" In reading many threads on preamps over the years, I never really thought that there was ...
The Blues....
You also have to pay your dues before you can play the blues as I recall! Funny, just this morning I was driving in my car and pulled out ROnnie Earl and Roy Buchannan and I was thinking that I have not played the blues in a while. This was perfec...
New DAC or Speakers? What will put airy-ness in?
A good preamp will get you what you are looking for.Happy Listening.
New CDP or new DAC?
First why are you even looking at equipment reviews. Waste of time. IMO and in my experience a DAC always out performed a CDP. There are so many used DACs to try. Find yourself one of the Museatex Bitstreams. You can buy them and sell them with no...
Replacements for Dynaudio Floorstanders
Sonus Faber Cremonas as mentioned above work very well with the Krell gear. Tube sound is subjective as most have not heard what tubes can offer in direct heated tube preamps or transformer coupled tube preamps. Happy Listening.
Sold Polk lsi15 now what?
For your musical tastes find a nice pair of Alons. I have seen V MKIIs go for $600-$1000. Fantastic on jazz and classic rock IMO.Happy Listening.
