Replacing JL Audio F112 v1 If one has mid level mains, SVS or Rythmic are fine but they won't be fast enough to do the high end Focals justice. Speed is not about how fast they make sound but actually how fast they stop making a sound and get out of the way again. Power ...
One Sub or Two? Information about the size of your room would be helpful. Based on the speakers and the HT / 2 channel mix, assuming a larger room, more is better. No need to stop at two. Highly recommend Rythmik servo subs over REL.
300 Watt Tube Monoblocks I would avoid this path for the reasons mentioned. After owning some high-powered tube monoblocks and dealing with tubes melting down, the cost of tube replacement, repairs, etc. I would go solid state for amps and have the tubes in your preamp a...
Tube Pre/ Class D Amp - Who has done it? Due to a recent change in speakers, I decided I needed a more powerful set of monoblock amps than my Herron M2 class A/B amps (160 watts each) which were matched with a Herron VTSP-360 tube preamp. I decided to give the PS Audio M1200 Stellar mon...
Do you grade your albums? I am just finishing putting all of my vinyl into the Discogs database. I have play graded them all based on condition. You can also "rate" them from 1-5 stars and make comments about sound quality, but I rarely do that.
Has anyone tried these products? I suggest getting a few of their smaller panels. They are light enough that you can hang them with some strong double-sided tape and experiment by moving them around.
Bookshelf speaker pairing with subwoofer Consider Harbeth P3ESR for your listening tastes.
A music thread for diehard analog guys that get great sound from cd @slaw I recently picked up about 30 SACD titles for $5 each at one of the local audio stores, mostly jazz titles. Most of them sound incredible!
Has anyone tried these products? I have a number of Audimute panels throughout my listening room along with a couple of GIK diffusers and they were a big help. I have the fabric covered 2" panels, not the same as those you are looking at. Where is the wall in your listening sp...
Svs sb17-ultra for music If it's a relatively new sub, you may not get much actual hands on experience. I would get the SVS before I'd get a REL. With the high efficiency of your JBL speakers, you want a sub with some power and most will recommend a sealed design for mu...
Vintage Japanese DD Consult and Suggestions Please I love my JVC QLY66F. I bought it a few years ago. At first, I thought it was horrible. It howled like a banshee at higher volumes. I replaced the feet and stuffed as much plasticlay as I could inside the plinth and now it sounds and looks bea...
Do you agree with John Atkinson (and me)? My music collection certainly cost more than my gear, but loving music and loving the way it sounds don't have to be mutually exclusive.
New remastering of Steely Dan's Katy Lied review by Fremer Katy and her lies showed up on my doorstep yesterday. My expectations were not high, but the sound quality was nothing short of incredible. The guitars had a nice edge to the them that is missing in previous versions, the vocals were much cleare...
R2R next? Don't like ESS I have been through a few DACs. Different chip types do have a certain sound character, but the same chip type can sound completely different, depending on the implementation and output stage (I may not be using the correct technical terms, I am ...
