The Rapid Rise (& Fall) of the CD I'm glad CDs are "dying". Lots of inexpensive music is popping up at the local record store, and unless they are poorly mastered, CDs can sound fantastic with a good player.
Subwoofer Advice Sounds like a great time! I love Jazz Alley!
Subwoofer Advice @navyachts I'm in Olympia. For some reason I thought you might be in Bremerton.
Subwoofer Advice That sounds like bad advice. There are a number of different subwoofers that should work fine in your space. A smallish sealed sub (or better - 2) will fill in the bottom end and shouldn't create issues if set up correctly. Are you in Washingt...
MoFi or Harbeth (used) I have no experience with the MoFi speakers, but based simply on their price point and what I've seen/heard from other MoFi electronics (the UltraDeck and MasterPhono), I think their speakers would be hard pressed to outdo the Harbeths, but that's...
Small speaker advice Joseph Audio Pulsar2 Graphene fit in your budget and what you describe as your listening tastes.
Streamer between Roon Nucleus Plus and DAC Everything matters, but if you're looking to improve sound quality of your digital playback, the DAC is where most of the magic happens, and that's where I suggest you consider investing. I had a Nucleus and an Aqua La Voce S3 DAC. I replaced th...
Subwoofer Advice the wireless option sounds great, do you think is a good way to go, is wireless going to be accurate match with the rest of the system? Hardwired, at least for most audio products, seem to be the preferred set-up. In the past I had 2 or 3 of my...
Moon 340i and Speakers Thank you all very much. That was exactly the type of information I was looking for. I wonder if anyone has any experience with smaller Harbeths. Even though I have never even seen any in real life, much less heard them, I have an unexplainabl...
Recommendations for a phono stage: Gold Note turntable w/ MC cartridge to ARi50. I think a lot of folks underestimate the importance of the phono stage. There are many options in your budget range that will sound "good", but you should consider budgeting close to what you spent on your turntable to get the most out of your vi...
Subwoofer Advice I don't think I would go any smaller than 12" drivers for subs, but I have heard REL and KEF subs with smaller drivers that were surprisingly good for their size, but expensive. I would look at the SVS SB-1000 or get a pair of Rythmik sealed subs...
Add a subwoofer? Subs always help unless they aren't set up right. It sounds like you want to do it right, which means filling in low end information that the speakers can't reproduce. While the Cornwalls are very efficient, it's not going to be hard to "keep up...
Analysis Plus Oval 9 I have the Oval 9 speaker wire in two of my second systems - one with a Simaudio 600i integrated and Harbeth P3ESR SE speakers, the other with a Electrocompaniet ECI-5 MKII integrated and Klipsch Chorus speakers. They are well made and do no harm...
Which HDMI cable for I2S? @big_greg Did you do any a/b comparisons between a cheap cable like the Monoprice and the DH Labs? I did this for giggles the other night and could not tell much, if any, difference. The same happened when I did A/B with the DH Labs vs. Reve...
Differences between Harbeth, Spendor, Graham, etc. ? They only go down to about 45Hz, so don't expect them to make your bowels rumble. They will produce truthful and tuneful bass, but if you want deep bass, you need to add a subwoofer (or 2 or more). |
