Freejazz I believe the Cale/Wainwright info to be correct.Buckley's version is flawless.
Talking Heads Remastered
Out of interest it'd be nice to know if anybody has compared the two different remasters-Ludwig's box set from 2003 and the new single albums (and Brick!) by Harrison.
Talking Heads Remastered
Karl seems we are talking at cross purposes I thought Paradales reference to the Brick (which I now think he thought I was talking about but was mistaken)was a nickname for the very long Once In A Lifetime box set shape. So the three of us have pic...
Talking Heads Remastered
Karl maybe if you read what I wrote before you started shooting your mouth off you wouldn't have made the mistake you have.I'm answering a comment on the box set on which Paradales and I agree on....... not the single albums. And maybe if you paid ...
Top Five for 2005
Henryhk I don't think it's passion with Arcade Fire it's more to do with then capturing their sound in the studio.I saw them live on TV and there was a whole other dimension, and I know people who have seen them live think they are the real deal.
Top Five for 2005
10. MARS VOLTA-FRANCES THE MUTE-stuff the concept and crap cover and marvel at the music; Zep, Miles Davis, Genesis et al smashed together in outrageously effective fashion. If it were shorter (triple vinyl!)it'd be higher up.9. ROBERT PLANT-MIGHT...
Top Five for 2005
It was a decent year for new music I thought with the trend continuing that artists made shorter albums, a good thing imho. In the interests of debate I've listed the countdown to my top ten, quite a few releases some Flies had in their ten and al...
Top Five for 2005
I've copied and pasted my records of the year from mails sent to a mailing list I'm on.Lugs the music review site I set up for Audiogon (see top of music section here) has been on a holding pattern this year but here's my views-they are angled for...
Musical Preference: US or UK?
Aceto I'm not sure I would agree with your analysis about the UK.I tend to think we've seen some slow but massive cultural changes over the last 25 years especially in politics.I'm not so sure the UK still fits your description above. My guess woul...
Arctic Monkeys
Albert as a fan of The Streets you will find some similarity; only more guitar based.
Arctic Monkeys
Very much the sound of the streets and a generation.Very British and very reflective of British working/underclass culture.Musically-raw,energetic and guitar driven, loose but structured. The hype has been incredible but it's hard not to be impresse...
Talking Heads Remastered
Paradales the TH box set is a monstrosity imho."Ok we've got 3 CD's of stuff what will we do?""I know make it 3 CD's wide!"Yuck, terrible concept and horrible art but the liner notes are very good
Musical Preference: US or UK?
Blur have been one of the more experimental bands to come out of the UK in a while not unlike Wilco in the way they've taken a core sound and took it strange places. As for the above synopsis of the UK in the 90's I have to say there was a wee bit ...
Talking Heads Remastered
These tracks (or most of them at least)are available on the Talking Heads box set Once In A Lifetime in remastered form. This was released late 2003/early 2004.I have it, I'd actually prefer the individual albums but the DVD aspect holds no interes...
Musical Preference: US or UK?
Lush well it isn't really mainstream-the list of bands I mention are mostly "underground" here in the UK.The charts now are completely different and there are very noticeable differences between what sells between the two countries;the most notice...
