Smallest Room For Revel Gems The Gems should work fine. I have my Gems in a a similar sized room, with great results.Best,Paul :-)
Anybody with some thoughts on Hafler amps I used a variety of Hafler amps over the years, DH-500, Xl-600, 9500, 9505.If you pick up a used 9500 or 9505 they are quite good, especially at the prices they bring today. Too bad Hafler is gone. Another quality mid/upper fi brand bites the dust...
Tube Pre-amp for Levinson 432 I have a 390S in a second system consisting of Levinson 33H's, Revel Gems and a Quicksilver Remote Linestage preamp that uses a pair of 6922's. The quicksilver was bought as a demo and I''ve been pleasantly surprised by how well it stands up to th...
Tube Pre-amp for Levinson 432 Step back a bit to an ARC Ref2 MKII. That will give you most if not all the good you heard with the REF3.Also, BAT tube preamps work well with Levinson, there is a synergy there, although why not try a 380S or better Levinson preamp?Best,Paul :-)
2nd Rowland Model 1 to improve my Aerial 10Ts? Hello Brian:Keep the 10t's. You'll have to spend a LOT of money to get anything remotely better. If I were you I'd look for an amp first.Best,Paul :-)
2nd Rowland Model 1 to improve my Aerial 10Ts? Like Dan said, 10t's like power. I personally am biased to Levinson amps, however any quality high-current amp with 200w/channel or better will light up your 10t's.At one point, I was powering my 10t's with a pair of Classe' M-1000 monoblocks. 100...
SCD-777ES and cd-r's I have had a SCD777ES for quite a while now. It has been trouble-free and plays CD-R's without a problem. The transport is quite robust and compares favorably to any high-end transport available today. I feed the digital output (redbook) to my Lev...
Most PRACTICAL, yet good sounding REEL to REEL ??? Ebay yourself an Otari MX5050. Find one that hasn't been rode hard and hung up wet. These professional decks are reasonably priced and far better than the major japanese players. You won't be sorry.Best,Paul
Help me with Speakers Now plz. Nice taste in music, and I appreciate your wit.I don't know how big your room is, but in your price range used you could pick up a pair of Revel Gems and stands. Get a pair with the Revel stands, best fit and sound.Small speaker, BIG sound. I have...
Aerial 20T as front speakers for surround system I have 20t's in a dedicated 2 channel system. All I can tell you is I'm a satisfied owner, and make sure your amplification for the front channels is the best it can be in order to realize the full potential of the 20t's.Best,Paul :-)
Anyone tried active biamping with Martin Logans? "Successfully driven". That means you could hear the music play. Not much more. I've heard a pair of Soundlab A2 being driven by the McIntosh MC1201 monoblocks. These are rated at 1200 Watts at 8 ohms. Even with that power, the Soundlabs could not...
Levinson upsampled? Thankfully you have a pair of 334's. You'll need 'em. The 20t's love power and need it to open up. At one time I passively biamped mine with a 336 on the woofers and a pair of 33H's on the high side. I have since paired them up with Levinson 33's....
Anyone tried active biamping with Martin Logans? Adcom and ML. Sounds like a recipe for some serious bright sound. I've had ML in the past, Adcom is not the amp that comes to mind for them....however, perhaps the Behringer can produce a miracle.Good luck!Paul :-)
any opinions about the bat vk d5 cd player ? I had both the VKD5 and the VKD5SE.Both are players that are easy to live with long-term. The D5SE had a bit more bass extension. The D5 was a shade warmer than the SE, however both players are "warm".Best,Paul :-)
Upgrading my system? Levinson to. . . . ? LOL, still sittin' on the fence, eh!?Best,Paul :-) |
