Women Who Rock
Oops, my 4:00 post neglected to include Jazz with Blues and Country. And then there’s Opera! @sgreg1: I took that as a joke. I hope I wasn’t mistaken!
Were you an audiophile in the 1980s and 1990s?
@terry9: I understand your praising of Sound Systems (the owner’s name was Mike something) for not selling ARC to you, but the truth of the matter is: if Mike wanted to remain an ARC dealer he was prohibited from doing any differently. The ARC dea...
Women Who Rock
Because woman aren’t usually thought of as performing Rock ’n’ Roll, but of Pop music, or if really good Blues or Country. What’s the harm in celebrating woman who Rock? Kind of a fun topic imo. Don’t take everything so seriously ;-) . I regularl...
Tune of the Day
"You’ve Done Nothing Wrong" by Iris DeMent. Oh my God, songwriting and singing just don’t get no better. Listen to Iris to discover why John Prine, Merle Haggard, and Emmylou Harris held/hold her in such high regard.
Tune of the Day
I couldn’t wait for tomorrow ;-) . "When My Morning Comes Around" by Iris DeMent is as beautiful a song as I have ever heard. A perfect song for a Sunday morning. I absolutely adore Iris.
Women Who Rock
Fantastic @mofimadness, I'm gonna search for it right now. Thanks!

Alison Krauss & Union Station do a good version of "Dimming Of The Day" (as does Bonnie Raitt). But I find the original by Richard & Linda Thompson quite a bit better. A great, great song.

Harry Pearson definitely added to the hi-fi lexicon, raising the bar in hi-fi critique. But it irks me when I see him given all the credit for creating "high end" reviewing (Steve Guttenberg does so regularly). As the saying goes "He stood on the ...
The last of the black Rock 'n' Roll pioneers?
@dabel: Did you ever see & hear The Continental Drifters while they were residing in "Nawlins"? I did a buncha times when they were living in Los Angeles. A fantastic band!
Women Who Rock
Sheesh, there are sure some with shallow roots and/or short memories.   Sister Rosetta Tharpe (a fantastic guitar player) Rose Maddox (Rockabilly, Hillbilly) Ruth Brown (a hero of Bonnie Raitt) Etta James (ditto) LaVerne Baker Irma Thoma...
Opinion: Modern country is the worst musical genre of all time
Though not a "modern" Country album, it is one I think some may find of interest. After Creedence Clearwater Revival disbanded (unintentional ;-), John Fogerty recorded and released his first solo album. But you may not have heard it, or even OF ...
Were you an audiophile in the 1980s and 1990s?
@frogman: You entirely missed my point regarding "inappropriate": Of course "the use of the sound of unamplified instruments in a real space" is "the best way to judge accuracy (naturalness) in the sound of a component." I didn’t say otherwise (re...

"Get Out Of Denver" by Dave Edmunds, his fantastic recording of a song written and first recorded by Bob Seger. The opening track on Edmunds' perfect album Get It, his debut on Swan Song Records. Robert Plant is a big fan of Dave's, and personally...

Holt sure was a tiny little guy, wasn’t he? Sharp dresser, too ;-) .
