Turntable isolation...
Thanks for the report Slaw. Which of Geoff's springs did you get?
"Cracked Rear View"
Yes indeed Slaw. Musically too, with one of my very favorite guitar breaks of all time, Ry Cooder's on "Lipstick Sunset".
What is best turntable for listening to Rock from the sixties like Led Zeppelin?
Wolf, I saw the Jeff Beck Group on their first U.S. tour, and they were great. Ron Wood playing bass (a Telecaster!), Mickey Waller drumming, Rod Stewart singing. Jeff was really fantastic.

Agree 100 per cent John. Transducers differ in character more than other components imo, and the Decca/London most especially. So alive, so dynamic! Makes other cartridges sound so reserved, so polite. Ironic, the Decca being so iconically British...
Your picks of mediocre or lousy vocals with great musicians!
I wasn't going to say anything (taste being just a matter of taste), but I'm right with ya tostadosunidos. I found Bowie not only reminiscent of Newley, but just as vapid an "entertainer". And contrived and calculated as well. No offense, Bowie fans.
Subwoofer SVS SB13Ultra vs JL Fathom F110V2
erndog, the OB/Dipole sub needs to be placed as all dipoles do---not less than three feet from the wall behind them. If they are paired with dipole main speakers, no problem, as the speakers are already there. They can, however, be placed right up...
Do we love our components more then ourselves ???
Very true, inna. I have to decide which of my vintage snare drums I want to be buried with me. My 1920's Ludwig & Ludwig Standard, my 30's Ludwig Anniversary, my 50's Slingerland Radio KIng, or my 60's Ludwig COB Supraphonic? Or, if I lose som...

John---Since you mentioned the Decca cartridge, and as a follow-up to Geoff’s great pun, I recommend the Townshend Rock table. The Decca was actually a factor in the table’s design, and the two are known to be a synergistic match (the table’s damp...

ctro---Jim Salk puts the Rythmik guts (15" servo-feedback woofer and 600w plate amp combo) into his own sealed enclosure, which has much more bracing than the Rythmik box and greater internal volume (4cu.ft. versus Rythmik's 3cu.ft.), for more eff...
Need help and advice on a VPI 3D arm
How long has VPI been making pickup arms? And they still can't make a headshell correctly?

I just moved 1100 miles, and won't breathe easy until I have my music collection back in my possession (like you, in climate-controlled storage at the moment). Equipment is replaceable, 5,000-10,000 LP's and CD's not so easy.
Rega Planar 3 upgrades help.
Some Rega owners like the sound of the stock glass platter, others prefer either of the two GT platters. They are very well made, and relatively reasonably priced.
Tube Amps vs Sanders ESL Amp for Electrostatics
Roger Modjeski (Music Reference) is making an ESL speaker with an integral direct-drive (no output transformer) tube amp. I'll bet it's killer!
What used speaker would you buy with $20,000-$35,000 and why?
Good points ct, and all true. I mention the DIY OB subs only for those already contemplating the Linkwitz loudspeakers, as they too are available only as kits.
Where are the passive subs?
The last passives I heard of were the HSU's of the 90's.
