I sometimes share the bandstand with a piano player who is a hardcore Libertarian. I actually truly respect that political bent---limited government (including the lack of laws prohibiting personal behavior greatly disapproved of by many Conservat...
Adding mass to a tonearm
Some audiophiles claim to not care for the sound of lead, but if you're not one of them, small lead weights can be found at hobby and fishing supply stores. The ones at hobby stores can be had with self-stick tape on one side, for attaching to a h...
Ry Cooder recommendation...
Ry was also the original guitarist in Captain Beefhearts Magic Band, on their first album. I believe he was all of 18!

I agree tubegroover, Audiogon should be a politics-free zone. I myself would not start such a discussion, but once it’s going.....My use of the term Trumpster was a while back, not in this thread. Yes, the term is disrespectful---I do believe he h...

What is the weight capacity of the ISO-PUCK? Competition to the Townshend Seismic puck!
FM alive and well here...curious question

Hmm. Yesterday I posted a response to bigkidz post which responded to my previous one, and then left for my gig. Today it’s gone. I wonder what I said that was unacceptable? I admitted that I didn’t disagree with the notion of it being considered ...
Dearly departed Music Reference RM9

List of artists that have never lost quality throughout entire career

What's in your CDP tonight? the minority report
I got to see EJ with his original band around the time of Tumbleweed Connection (70-71), and they pleased me greatly. My interest in him soon thereafter evaporated, he appearing to me to be more of an entertainer than an artist, if you know what I...
Dearly departed Music Reference RM9
I'll bet you can get your RM-9 completely restored for less than $2000, maybe much less. Roger doesn't gouge the way some companies do.
FM alive and well here...curious question
L.A.'s Classical stations are terrible, playing a single movement of a Symphony or Concerto. What are they afraid of, listeners getting bored?! Plus, they have radio "personalities", trying to be charming, but coming off as smarmy. To me, at least.
ARC GS150 design error
Damn, that's a pretty major error to make for a company that has been making amps as long as ARC has. Not ARC bashing, but jeez. Personally, I don't like meters, except for setting bias, etc.
What's your OTL tube amp experience and suggestion?
The only OTL other than an Atma-Sphere I would own would be the Counterpoint SA-4, designed by Roger Modjeski of Music Reference. One advantage of the SA-4 is it's lower output impedance, providing more predictable frequency response (read John At...
