Pass Labs Hmm. Yesterday I posted a response to bigkidz post which responded to my previous one, and then left for my gig. Today it’s gone. I wonder what I said that was unacceptable? I admitted that I didn’t disagree with the notion of it being considered ...
Dearly departed Music Reference RM9 fearsnears, I should have also mentioned that Roger Modjeski can incorporate the Mk.2 updates into your RM-9 as he restores/repairs it.
List of artists that have never lost quality throughout entire career Richard Thompson, Danny Gatton, Albert Lee, Loudon Wainwright III, The Ramones.
What's in your CDP tonight? the minority report I got to see EJ with his original band around the time of Tumbleweed Connection (70-71), and they pleased me greatly. My interest in him soon thereafter evaporated, he appearing to me to be more of an entertainer than an artist, if you know what I...
Dearly departed Music Reference RM9 I'll bet you can get your RM-9 completely restored for less than $2000, maybe much less. Roger doesn't gouge the way some companies do.
FM alive and well here...curious question L.A.'s Classical stations are terrible, playing a single movement of a Symphony or Concerto. What are they afraid of, listeners getting bored?! Plus, they have radio "personalities", trying to be charming, but coming off as smarmy. To me, at least.
ARC GS150 design error Damn, that's a pretty major error to make for a company that has been making amps as long as ARC has. Not ARC bashing, but jeez. Personally, I don't like meters, except for setting bias, etc.
What's your OTL tube amp experience and suggestion? The only OTL other than an Atma-Sphere I would own would be the Counterpoint SA-4, designed by Roger Modjeski of Music Reference. One advantage of the SA-4 is it's lower output impedance, providing more predictable frequency response (read John At...
Ground Hum with Rega RP6, Exact and TT PSU. How about the dealer who sold you the table/arm/cartridge? Proper set-up, operation, and your satisfaction should be included with the purchase and guaranteed.
FM alive and well here...curious question I was pleased to discover that Portland (Oregon) has a good Classical and Jazz station, at the left end of the dial of course. I haven't yet set up my MAC MR78 (with Modafferi update), but I gotta get a rooftop antenna and rotor.
Maggie 3.6R volume problem See if the conductive wires glued onto the Mylar are delaminating. Very common with older Maggies. Fix them, then sell them and get a pair of Eminent Technology LFT-8b's, whose magnetic-planar panels have vapor-deposited conductive elements rather...
Amps from the 1980's -- What gear holds up sonically? Reliably? For solid state, the Electron Kinetics Eagle 2 and Bedini 25/25. For an amp with the power of the above-mentioned Adcom 555 but with far better sound, the PS Audio 200C. Plus, it doesn't blow up speakers as the Adcom is notorious for doing.
Vibration control inside a cabinet Todd, what Barry Diament (long-term roller bearing proponent, and audiophile recording engineer) suggests is a roller bearing comprised of only one cup (the bowl facing upward, of course), the ball bearing sitting in it, and a hard ceramic floor t...
Anybody have a PS Audio 200C Power Amp owners manual? Thanks jayman. I'm at ericjerde@gmail.com. I know the owners manual didn't contain specs---Gordon Holt commented on that fact in his review of the amp, providing some of them like input impedance and sensitivity.
Vibration control inside a cabinet Roller bearings can be had from Ingress Engineering in Canada for as little as $85 for a set of three. If you use only one of the two bearing cups at each location instead of two (look at them to understand what that means!), with the ball bearing... |
