Linn Audio casaross, your post raises and interesting subject. Not just the Sondek, but other products from other companies are introduced in their original forms and at original prices, and establish their price-to-performance niche in the marketplace. Over...
How do you store and catalog your vinyl? Good points, all of which I agree with of course.
Best vinyl purchases based on pressing, studio production, sound quality and enjoyment. Great post and advice folkfreak! For the price of one new audiophile reissue , one can buy a whole stack of original pressings of music new to one. Life is short, live a little!
Linn Audio Linn was quite right in their "source-first" idea. Once lost, information can’t be recovered. But a loudspeaker can lose a lot too. A balanced system, no glaring weak link or bottle neck, is my philosophy. There’s no point in having any one compon...
How do you store and catalog your vinyl? So, you're saying plastic jewel cases don't reflect sound waves that hit them?! The jewel case's internal volume may also resonate, but it's not either/or.
50 years on---the brilliance of The Band and their astounding debut album. Walmart already has the boxset back in stock, and are selling it for $89.99, the best price I see.
How do you store and catalog your vinyl? Oh Geoff, I thought you meant that a CD itself sounds better if stored vertically! Maybe your room benefits from horizontal diffusion (from vertically-orientated diffusors). Mine does, for planar speakers. Plastic CD jewel cases are nasty, cardboa...
Linn Audio Mahler, the Linn attitude to which I referred was that Linn products were the only good ones, that everything else was garbage. Linnies (I knew a few) were brainwashed, automatically dismissing everything that didn't play into the Linn view of Hi-...
What is the most $ you have spent on vinyl? I like to see people have more invested in their music libraries than their hi-fi systems.
What is the most $ you have spent on vinyl? Damn whart (and you others), your bank account must be mighty healthy! Luckily, my taste in music is not that of most people’s, so anything I’m looking for is not that high in demand. I still need an original UK Sire (9103-251) pressing of the Fla...
Linn Audio Linn, and their most ardent dealers, rubbed a lot of people the wrong way with their obnoxious attitude.
Best TT under $1k Except for their arms, I consider the design of Regas poor. I don't like the resonant MDF plinth, the motor attached directly to it, the plastic sub-platter, the glass platter, or the inability to adjust even arm height. I would much rather have a...
How good is your hearing ? And how do you know ? I had the audiologist I went to in my late 30's to have molds made of my ear canals (for pro ear plugs) test my hearing. High end loss of course, almost nothing above 15k. Thirty years later I now have some tinnitus, but not that bad considering 5...
How do you store and catalog your vinyl? I've never seen an LP collection stored horizontally. Since CD's are (mostly) in jewel cases, I doubt it matters. But it IS easier to get a CD case out if it doesn't have 10 or 20 more piled on top of it.
FM antennas.............Does ANBODY still make them? Antennacraft unfortunately is out of business. |
