Can interconnect cables improve sound stage height, width, and depth?
@fsonicsmith, dang, you must REALLY like the MC5!Good post, to which I would only add that there is another dynamic at work, only at the high end. Brooks Berdan was (R.I.P.) a SoCal dealer who had a fair percentage of long-term, repeat customers w...
Why Isnt Techincs 1200 Considered Audiophile?
Poor Jeff at Audiomods. He does everything he can to prevent his unique arm from being incorrectly, mistakenly described as a "tweaked Rega", yet some continue to do so. Why? That is akin to describing a custom-designed, hand-built automobile, ont...
Phono cartridge grading
All those cartridges, and not a single Decca or London? Ridiculous! ;-)By the way, low frequencies are bass, not base.
Thumbs up for ultrasonic record cleaning
Anyone have an opinion yet on the new Kirmuss Audio ultrasonic?
Eminent Technology ET-2 Tonearm Owners
Michael Percy sells a product that HW-19 owners may want to try. It is made by well-known commercial isolation product specialist company EAR, and is named the Isoloss Sandwich Mount. It is intended for use on circuit boards, but the EAR Isoloss m...
Stereophile, no more bench tests????!!!!
Audio Magazine was great, having both objective and subjective elements. Their technical articles were written by professional designers, and subjective reviews by guys with both ears and brains, Bascom King (now designing at PS Audio) being one.
I like Steve Guttenberg.
Another good Steve is Stone, a pal of JGH's.
Stereophile, no more bench tests????!!!!
As always, almarg said it all (mapman too). I find especially useful and interesting---and necessary---the input and output impedances of tube pre's and power amps, and the modulus of a loudspeaker's impedance. The interaction between all three ca...

Erik, ASC IS expensive. I got lucky and found my Traps for $10 each, including two 16" ! I found them in the mid-90's, listed in The Recycler, a Buy/Sell newspaper in SoCal. I went to the sellers house to pick them up, and the place was empty exce...
Eminent Technology ET-2 Tonearm Owners
Brooks Berdan was a big fan of the Oracle Delphi (he even came up with a mod for it, which Oracle ended up copying), to which he mounted many of the Eminent Technology arm. But when the HW-19 (and then the TNT) was introduced, he switched allegian...
I like Steve Guttenberg.
So, do you long-haired reviewer "haters" also hate long-haired musicians?! If you've seen clips of Classical orchestra conductors from the first half of the 20th Century, you know why Classical was at that time referred to as long-hair music.
Stereophile, no more bench tests????!!!!
TAS "reviewers", with their "chocolate", "caramel" colorations, and "yin/yang" & astrological references. Too "new age" for me. Subjective taken too far.
AT ART 1000 vs London Reference vs Ana Mighty Sound 103.3
@audiofun, a Tzar dealer will provide that $10,000 cartridge for audition?! I don’t have a spare ten grand, but would love to hear it. I'm a diehard Decca/London enthusiast, getting my first in 1972 (a Decca Blue), and current owner of two (about ...
Shure to leave the phono business
How ironic. Analog is supposedly in the throes of a resurgence, and one of, if not THE, iconic cartridge makers goes down?! Who hasn’t owned a Shure? Out-of-fashion in the high end, but high end doesn’t drive the business, does it?
GIK - Free 3D Acoustics modelling!
C’mon Erik, one bad experience with ASC products and you write them off?! I fairly recently visited Audiogon member folkfreak, whose room was designed with heavy input from Art Noxon, and is fitted with many ASC products. Incredible sounding room ...
