Who is next?? According to MG, there will be no next generation of HEA designers. HEA will be dead, along with it's consumer base.
Coaxial Ribbon Midrange/tweeter - Can a small midrange ribbon actually do midrange well? Erik, I assume you meant to say "ribbon" midrange. As you know, there are many planar midrange drivers---the other Eric (with the inferior spelling ;-) .
Relative component value to overall SQ. @inna, I didn’t consider it necessary to include the "wink" emoji ;-) in that apparently-too-subtle joke. I guess I was mistaken!
Relative component value to overall SQ. Now, if the system budget were increased to $20,000, one could then consider a pair of Magnepan MG3.7i driven by a Sanders Magtech amp. In that case, the percentage spent on speakers would be about the same as on the ET's in the $10,000 system. Ju...
Relative component value to overall SQ. If it’s a simple answer you want, here it is: A- ignore the percentage paradigm (a word not part of my vocabulary until Michael Green showed up ;-). B- Find a pair of speakers you like the most at no more than half your budget (less if possible). ...
Whats playing on your system today? Great album David! It was Randy's 3rd, and his 1st (s/t) and 2nd (12 Songs) are also real good, as is the one after Sail Away---Good Old Boys (my favorite of his). It was when he started using the guys in Toto as his recording band that I lost int...
Coaxial Ribbon Midrange/tweeter - Can a small midrange ribbon actually do midrange well? The Eminent Technology LFT-8b uses a pair of magnetic-planar drivers to cover 180Hz to 10kHz, crossover free within that frequency range. I ribbon tweeter takes over at 10k, and an 8" dynamic woofer at 180Hz. The 2014 Robert Greene review of the s...
Relative component value to overall SQ. Amen, slaw. CD's too ;-) . Even the radio, if you happen to have a good station nearby.
What do you like most? Jazz or Classic? I hesitate to post this, as it may make me appear to be self-aggrandizing, but I've been drinking bourbon all day, so what the hell. I did a gig (at The Continental Club in L.A.) in the late 90’s with violinist Don "Sugarcane" Harris (the Don of S...
The Aaron Copland / Bob Dylan connection And a very merry Christmas to you, jafant! Everyone else as well!!---Eric.
Does anyone care to ask an amplifier designer a technical question? My door is open. Roger doesn't suffer fools gladly. Not that I'm calling anyone a fool ;-) .
Looking for an excellent Subwoofer match for Celestion SL600 Speakers! Celestion at one time offered an OB/Dipole sub designed specifically for use with the SL600.
What do you like most? Jazz or Classic? For myself, it's not the instrument the music is played on, but the music itself. There is no such instrument as a Classical violin, or a Jazz one. The difference is in the music itself, so whichever music one prefers is the determining factor. Cl...
Have you had enough of Classic Rock? In interviews, great artists of any given era will often talk about the artists from the preceding era that inspired and/or influenced he or she. Dylan is viewed as a member of the 1960’s counter-culture generation (some even view him as its’ fath...
Has anyone added a small subwoofer to 2 channel and been thrilled with the result? A number of the Rythmik plate amps (all but the XLR models) provide both high-level connections (on speaker binding posts) AND line-level connections (on RCA jacks). You can try the sub both ways, and use the method you prefer. |
