Everything a crossover has to do ...
Danny Richie explains all in his series of GR Research Tech Talk Tuesday You Tube videos.
Degritter brand ultrasonic record cleaner
@stringreen, so a sweep with the Hunt brush (which I also own, along with a Decca, Audioquest, and Discwasher) gets all the "stuff" out of the grooves and off the surfaces of the used LP's you add to your collection? Or you don't buy used?I've bou...
New Omega E Mat from Perfect Path Technologies
Alright @oregonpapa, now you HAVE gone too far, disparaging my blended Johnnie Walker Black like that. :-(But Geoff came to the rescue, making me laugh out loud for the first time in quite a while (the donkey joke). :-)Back on topic: Audiogoner fo...
Degritter brand ultrasonic record cleaner
Right @kozzmo999, and the price had crept up to $3000. Not cheap, but lower priced than both the KL Audio and Audiodesk @ $4000. A DIY ultrasonic cleaner can be put together for under $1000, but the Degritter has it all.
Bi-amp crossover recommendations
The best one I know of is the Pass Labs, but it ain’t cheap. Is cost an object? Nelson was also offering his excellent First Watt B4 ($1500 list, but discounted), but it’s now out of production. Call Reno Hi-Fi (a major Pass/First Watt retailer), ...
Abbey Road MoFi or Reissue
I bought the UK version upon it's initial release, and though I've never liked it much (I realize I'm in the minority ;-) I still have it. If it's fetching over $200, maybe I'll sell it!
Which to Upgrade first? My Amplifier or Speakers?
If you still really like the Maggies, get a Sanders Magtech amp to drive them. Or, get a pair or quad (swarm) of good subs to augment the 3.6’s. Getting the deep bass out of the panels will make the upper-bass, midrange and up cleaner.
Need Tonearm help for a Thorens TD124 Mark II
The Zeta is imo a good recommendation. If anyone finds one that could use some TLC, Johnnie at Audio Origami is very familiar with the arm, and himself holds it in high regard. He will take yours apart, clean, repack, and adjust the bearings, and ...
Top five live Rock And Roll Albums
Hmm, Lou Reed live and The Band Live At The Academy of Music 1971 sound very different from one other to me. When The Band played The Hollywood Bowl in ’71, they were given carte blanche for their opening act. They chose The Miles Davis Group. Gar...
Looking for a small tube amp (possibly integrated tube amp)... low power, nice sound
There is a real nice used Music Reference RM-10 Mk.2 listed at $1400 on U.S. Audiomart right now. 35w/ch from a single pair of EL84's/ch. If I hadn't just bought myself one exactly like it, I'd buy it myself.
Congratulations Atmasphere!
It's funny, 'cause most brilliant designers look like nerds. Ralph looks like a musician, which he also is.
Another Music Direct Catalog observation
I saw Bloomfield (and the awesome Buddy Miles) in The Electric Flag in the Summer of ’68, at The Santa Clara County Folk-Rock Festival. Mark Naftalin was playing piano, Harvey Brooks bass, Nick Gravenites singing, and four sax players---two barito...
New Omega E Mat from Perfect Path Technologies
Are any PPT Mat owners former (or even current) users of older related products such as the Shakti Stone, any of Jack Bybee's products, etc.?
On the hunt for the "just right" turntable lamp-ideas, and where to find 'em?
So, LED's are a lot brighter than the Littlite? I have one of the latter above my RCM, and two between my three tables, and have never felt I needed more illumination. But then I like subdued lighting. Guess I'm a Beatnik ;-) .
Any thoughts on the changes or changing Audio names/terms/meanings.
LP's are now vinyl. No, vinyl is what your Grandmother had on her sofa in the front parlour.
