I don't know how one could come to think I was "saying the ET was (sic) an ESL". I infact specifically said it was NOT---that was the main point of the post in which I said as much! My related quote about the ET: "but you should know that it's des...

Stax ESL Ear Speakers. They are VERY small ;-) .
Has anyone finally decided to sell their Turntable and Vinyl collection?
I bought two new (to me) turntables last year. I’m buying more new and used LP’s now than I did for years. In the 1990’s I resigned myself to the reality of having to make peace with the CD, and finally bought myself a player: the Philips CD80, a ...
Has anyone finally decided to sell their Turntable and Vinyl collection?
"Believe it or not but back then everyone believed CD was 'perfect sound forever'". Uh, not everyone ;-) .

@slaw, haven’t heard that one, but I love SBW. He and The Hawks (later of course known as The Band) met up in drummer Levon Helm’s hometown of Selena, Arkansas in 1965, jammed for a day, and started making plans to go on the road together, they as...

@mijostyn, yup, I know the Sanders is "a real ESL" (what's an "unreal" ESL? ;-), that’s why I above referred to it as "the Sanders ESL". Both the Sanders and the Eminent Technology LFT-8 are hybrids, with a dynamic woofer. The ET employs an 8" bass...
Has anyone finally decided to sell their Turntable and Vinyl collection?
My LP collection (along with my vintage drums and cymbals, some dating back the 1920's) is my most prized possession, one I have been accumulating since the mid-60’s. I’m gonna have it buried with my body, but I’ll need a double-wide plot ;-) .
What's in your CDP tonight? the minority report
Fun is a good adjective for the album, @reubent,  one I should have emphasized. Seen performing live (as I have, in the bands of both Dave Edmunds and Nick Lowe), he is DEFINITELY having a good time on stage. He appears to enjoy drink, but not to ...

Dial ’W’ For Watkins by Geraint Watkins. Bob Dylan: "Geraint is my favorite English pianist." GW has worked with Paul McCartney, Bill Wyman, Nick Lowe, Dave Edmunds, a bunch of others, but I’ll bet you’ve never heard him, or even OF him. Unless yo...
Tune of the Day
"Heroes & Villains" by Geraint Watkins, off his Dial 'W' For Watkins album. I've never heard a cover version of a song (the very odd H & V, written by Brian Wilson and Van Dyke Parks and found on the Beach Boys Smiley Smile album) that so ...
Proper Ground for Tonearm and Turntable
I have a couple Zerostats (I jumped on it right away, and still have my original white one), but prefer the Nagaoka Kilavolt (Model No. 103). It’s easy to use, unlike the idiosyncratic Zerostat (don’t pull it's trigger too rapidly ;-) . Good luck ...

@rsf507’s recommendation of the Eminent Technology "speakers" (presumably the LFT-8) is a fine one, but you should know that it’s design is magnetic-planar, not ESL. His other nominee---the Sanders ESL---is another great planar. The price differen...

A rereading of the above made me realize I inadvertently implied Muddy's Folk Singer is on Audioquest. It is not; it's original release in 1964 was on Chess Records, but the reference version is the reissue on Mobile Fidelity.Backing Muddy are Bud...
Your Top Five Blues LPs, SQ-wise...
If you’re talking about great recorded sound alone, I second the Audioquest label suggestion. A long-time reference disc in the Blues genre is Folk Singer by Muddy Waters. Be forewarned: it is Rural Acoustic Blues, not the amped-up Blues you hear ...
KLAudio is stopping production of their Ultrasonic record cleaner.
Yeah, the Degritter is a "21st Century" version of an ultrasonic.
