Futterman. Jump in? Or, not so fast...
@kacomess, New York Audio Labs was started by hi-fi provocateur Harvey Rosenberg. Harvey hired engineer George Kaye, and the two of them developed the company’s line of tube (input stage) / ss (output stage) hybrid Moscode power amps.Harvey worked...
What other Hobbies or Interests Do You Have?
California has lots of rifle ranges, at one of which I not too long ago did some shooting, both rifles and handguns. If you've never held or even seen a 45, they are bigger and heavier than you think! Wore ear protection, of course ;-) .
Whatta Ya Think About Hsu Research Subwoofers?
@bob540, I have a pair of the original passive (no plate amp, but a passive x/o proving low-pass filtering is included) HSU sub, the HRSW10 (Rosewood veneer). They’ve been in storage for years, and I just pulled them out of their cartons. The foam...
Futterman. Jump in? Or, not so fast...
Damn @clio09, now you've gone and reminded us of why Roger's passing is such a loss to us all. ;-(
Eminent Technology LFT 7 !!
Oh, you own LFT-6’s. I’ve located a pair, but shipping them is a problem for the current owner, and he’s on the other side of the U.S. from me. Road trip? ;-)At one point I owned pairs of both Tympani T-IV AND T-IVa, which is just plain silly. Now...
Bose 901
Sure @tweak1, by selling them and putting the proceeds into a GR Research loudspeaker kit. ;-)
Futterman. Jump in? Or, not so fast...
Awesome @roberjerman! State-Of-The-Art in the 60’s, and still great. One of Modjeski’s last designs was an ESL loudspeaker and a direct-drive OTL amp with which to drive it. No amplifier output transformer, no ESL input transformer, the tubes drov...
Eminent Technology LFT 7 !!
Well I'll be darned! You are of course absolutely correct, I don't know how I missed it. There were only 300 pair of the LFT-IV made, so when I found a pair I snapped them up. The LFT-6 is 78" tall, 18" wide. The LFT-IV is also 18" wide, but "only...
Futterman. Jump in? Or, not so fast...
Roger Modjeski (Music Reference) held the Futterman OTL in high regard (the Quad ESL as well), and his RAM Tube Works has the tubes needed for them, computer tested, graded, and matched. But Modjeski designed an amp using the Quad as the load, and ...
Spatial Audio open baffle speakers, who has them? Worthwhile change from Maggies?
@scothurwitz, the LFT-8b is overlooked for a couple of reasons.1- Eminent Technology has very few dealers (compared to Magnepan). 2- ET doesn’t advertise, not playing the ads-for-reviews game. In spite of that, the speaker has received a number of...
... speaker stands other than concrete blocks...
Sound Anchors will make you a stand of any dimensions you request. Their stuff is great.
Seriously considering tube preamp…opinions?
There is an EAR-Yoshino 868L listed on Audiogon right now, under $3k. Over-looked by audiophiles for no good reason. Designed by Tim deParavicini (not a committee), amongst the handful of best engineers in the business.
Wilson's Chronosonic XVX loudspeaker over 3/4 of a million US dollars
I myself wouldn’t own a speaker with the midrange driver wired in polarity opposite the woofers and tweeters, no matter the price. But that’s just me. I also don’t care for redheads.
Eminent Technology LFT 7 !!
I’ve never heard of the LFT-7. They’re not mentioned anywhere on the ET website (including the company's product timeline list), though the LFT-III and LFT-IV (which I own) are. Where did you learn of them?
James Taylor
@rpeluso, in 2008 my bassist partner and I drove from L.A. to Austin to look into the housing market, and after checking into a motel stopped into a small bar/restaurant downtown. There was a small bandstand, with a drumset and coupla amps set up....
