Townshend Audio Seismic Pods under the table, the speakers, and the sub.

From the 1950’s:Howlin’ Wolf: "Smokestack Lightning". Done by many others, not anywhere as wickedly.Elvis, Scotty, and Bill: "Mystery Train". The Band do a good version on their Moon Dog Matinee album. The (Johnny Burnette) Rock ’n’ Roll Trio: "Tra...
Whats on your turntable tonight?
Bummer, @noromance. Are ya gonna have John Wright replace the diamond with a Paratracer stylus?
Seeking advice on Speakers that create an intimate 2 channel listening experience
Duke, the "reason" I was referring to is your facts about the SPL drop difference between point source subs (yes, they are omni-directional, but for this discussion that is immaterial) and line source loudspeakers. Dipole planars share the 3dB dro...
Why Don't More People Into Music Reproduction At Home Play Around With Musical Instruments
At the end of his life, George Harrison drove around with a trunk full of ukuleles. Tom Petty told a story about George showing up at his place in the San Fernando Valley (on the other side of the Hollywood Hills), the two of them playing ukes for...
Seeking advice on Speakers that create an intimate 2 channel listening experience
1- Steve Guttenberg continually refers to Maggies---including the new LRS---as ribbon speakers. He’s been in the hi-fi biz all this time, and remains so ignorant? The LRS does NOT contain ribbon drivers, period! He doesn’t differentiate between ma...
Herron VTSP-2a vs EAR 324
I told you that $2500 you paid was an excellent price! ;-)
Herron VTSP-2a vs EAR 324
@dhcod, will you be selling the EAR?
Recommendations for electronic crossover.
A second suggestion of the First Watt B4 (designed and built by Nelson Pass). The factory-built edition is no longer in production, and used examples rarely come up for sale, so be prepared to wait. A kit version is about to be made available, I b...
Vinyl / High qual analog tape / High-res digital -- One of these is not like the other
Leland Sklar, one of the most-recorded electric bassists in history (James Taylor, Jackson Browne, Carole King, Phil Collins, Toto, many soundtracks) posts a video on YouTube every day. They are filmed in an upstairs bedroom of his very nice 2-sto...
No Direction Home, Dylan documentary by Martin Scorsese.
@tomcy6, Dylan’s statement was his announcement that he had moved on, above and beyond the plane of left vs. right (politics), to that of right vs. wrong (morality). He has done that for many years; not in the literal, obvious way of his early (pr...
No Direction Home, Dylan documentary by Martin Scorsese.
@terry9, you missed the important qualifying word in Dylan’s statement: "There’s no black and white, no left and right to me ANYMORE." The songs you cite were all in his rear view mirror by the time he made that statement.
What are you streaming tonight?
Ha! I would argue that NRBQ---in their classic line-up with Al Anderson playing guitar and singing, Joey Spampinato playing bass and singing, and both contributing songs---were not just the world’s greatest Bar band, but perhaps the greatest Rock ...
Your vote for greatest (covers) album
Good one, @mapman. How could I have forgotten THAT one?! Rosanne's Pa recorded a lot of Dylan, but not enough to fill an album, I don't believe. He was the first major artist to express his admiration for Bob and his songs. Takes one to know one. ;-)
