CD TRANSPORT THAT MAKES AN AUDIBLE DIFFERENCE
I can only tell you about what I know. I used to have a Cambridge transport and went to a Jay's CDT2-MK3. The difference is simply phenomenal. In this case you get what you pay for is real.
Some famous reviewers have atrocious listening rooms!
Listening rooms are the hardest thing to get right. Anyone with mucho dinero can buy wonderfully expensive equipment. However, very few can have the dedication required to build a proper listening room. What a waste...
What's up with lousy bass on classic rock recordings?
It all depended on the recordings. Tying all classic rock into one lump won't do it justice. Prime example Tommy Bolin's Private eyes and Teaser, both vinyl from the mid seventies, if you can find better bass anywhere, in any genre, or any period,...
The Mood Was Ruined
@mahler123  Weird to have an arm pickup over a pop!!! Automatic TT? My TTs don't do that, automatic is an enemy for sound performance. Even so it was cleaned, some spec of whatever may have attached itself to the vinyl while handling it. A close...
Small, Effective Subwoofers?
Also, I agree with the ones who say a more powerful amp can only help. I run the PBNs with 500 watts per channel @ 4 ohms amp.
Small, Effective Subwoofers?
@navyachts  I have 12" dual subs, F12s from Rythmick and they work flawlessly with my PBN Montana XPS speakers which are 4 ohms. Plenty enough bass with the right amount of slam and definition. However, FYI, to obtain a non overly booming sound ...
LOUDEST Concert and Tinnitus
Loudest ever was Van Halen in Boulder in the seventies. However, no tinnitus until 2 years ago when I stood in Redrocks amphitheater for a 4 hour show from Umphrey's McGee. One of the best concert ever but the length of the loudness did me in :(
Hello and "THANKS IN ADVANCE"
A friend of mine had some 901s hanging by wires from the ceiling  in the mid 70s. For what I knew then, they were awesome. Enjoy.
What is your experience with amp power?
Big amp power is not a necessity with the right speakers but is surely nice to have if you got it.
Hello and "THANKS IN ADVANCE"
This feels like going back to the 70s,  or do they still make the 901s.
WHEN DID YOU FINALLY STOP...
When I built a separate listening room from the house and THEN acoustically treated it. The first part took care of my wife who could care less about any of my musical tastes, and then I was able to be good to my ears.
Is Imaging Worth Chasing?
+1 @corelli  And for @paul6002  It's not about the equipment, it is all about the room for getting unbelievable imaging. I can literally place any instruments in their specific place without even trying. I mean they can be a foot away from e...
One of the great things about Vinyl
Listening to an entire album all the way through used to be essential to get a feel for what bands tried to convey. At least a whole side. I still do it with newer music even so they may be more song to song oriented. One thing I won't do is liste...
Female vocalist recommendations
Françoise Hardy Kate Bush Sonja Kristina For what it's worth since this is about the zillionth time this has been discussed. Enjoy whoever is your cup of tea is my advice.
Why do we stop listening to new music as we get older?
Because obtuse folks refuse to open up their musical horizons. They miss so much.
