TV picture issue, anyone?
Sorry to hear about your problem. I'm NOT a TV or video technician, but I do own a commercial video editing and media duplication company. And I've worked in the television industry since back in 1984. Sounds like you have some magnetic problems, ...
Should I pay 500 to mod my old Mac MR-67 tuner?
Sounds like you already have your mind made up. If you are happy with your tuner, you should at least consider talking to your area McIntosh dealer; and finding out what it might cost to have your tuner restored to factory specs. You might be plea...
The Absolute Sound delivery issues
Sorry to hear about your delivery problems. I've also noted seeing an issue or two at my local Tower Records a few days before mine arrives in the mail. This may be due to a problem with the mail house that seals and sends the issues out. My main ...
Is a offer of -20 percent on an OBO ad insulting?
To Moto: Sorry to hear about your unpleasant experience with your offer. As mentioned, the seller may have a thin skin or he may have his item fairly priced and is looking to get an offer close to his asking price. As with many of the others Audio...
Does anyone actually rackmount ?????
I am the owner of 12 year old video editing and media duplication company; and have rack mounted a wide range of audio gear over the years with few problems. I'm not sure how well it would work with some types of consumer gear; given the thin face...
Terrible room. Contemplating headphones. Help
I have to agree with Ejlif, that even if your room sounds horrible right now; with some sound treatments it can be improved upon. There are all sorts of modest cost room treatments you can get without spending lots of money. Just for starters, log...
MIT cables on Audio Advisor?
Chris - I think you will do just fine if you get the MIT cables from Audio Advisor. About two times a year they have a sale on interconnects and speaker cables - often from the MIT line. The speaker cables you are considering will probably work ju...
Would a Pass Aleph 5 be able to drive Thiel 3.5 ?
As a current owner of Thiel 3.5s; I would agree with Unsound's remarks. The 3.5s DO sound better when they have a higher powered amp to drive them. A Bryston 4BST would be an excellent choice. I'm a McIntosh fan - so I'm driving mine with an MC150...
Insurance rider for your gear?
I deffinately agree that an additional insurance rider tocover your audio gear and CDs/Tapes/Records is worth thevery small additional premium you pay. Shall we face thefacts - some insurance companies are great to deal with when you have a claim ...

Television as source component
Curbach - the quality of the audio you will get from yourTV's audio outputs will depend on the quality of the outputquality from your TV's or VCR's tuner. Some do a very decentjob; and others are just plain bad. And amazing but true -the cost of y...
Who services older equipment?
You didn't mention your location Jim; but a good place tostart might be your local McIntosh dealer. They often workon older Mac equipment from the late 60s on - and if theycan't repair your gear, they will often know who can. I just recently had m...
How have your tastes changed?
Wow! - My tastes have certainly changed A LOT since the early 1960s; when I got my first "real stereo" a Scott compact system. Mostly back then, I listened to rock and some blues. But I grew up in San Francisco; and had the great fortuneto be aro...
Will Microsoft kill DVD-A and SACD?
I fully agree with many of the earlier posts about Microsoft's worthless business practices. It seems to me they have bought into the HDCD technology in part becausesoftware sales have been lagging for some time; and they aremaybe hoping to get so...
