Point of diminishing returns In our hobby;it depends where our focus is placed. (Think,OJ trial.)A decent boom-box or 200k in components both play music, with a ka-jillion steps between them. I would guess there are some whom have had the same pieces for 5//7/10 years. Then the...
New Sony 50 If the dvds are 2.35 aspect ratio you will have bars top and bottom. I think all tvs fill just fine for 1.85,(ar)Sorry,that's just the way things are. Look thru your collection and find a movie that says "1.85"; It should fill the screen.
So how's it going with HD DVD? Well I hang at avs and just about everybody is delighted with the PQ improvement over standard dvds.--All this with just a small handfull of titles,so far. Netflix and others do have and rent these HD titles. Anybody just a little bit cautious mig...
WILSON AUDIO/ cost vs. value I guess some of the naysayers think the profit should be less;then Wilson could go under--like some other speaker makers?? I figure it's better to be bashed on a regular basis than to not be spoken of,at all??
What's wrong with a DVD player as a transport? I have owned the Pioneer '09 and the Sony 7700. I have the Audiomeca Enkainthus as my dac. I tried both of these as transports, only, against my Theta Data3. The main difference is in the low end of the music. It is noticable;it just ain't there--no ...
recomendation on a power conditioner I don't agree in whole with the responces. See if you can borrow a good one from a local dealer.--AS an example if I loaned you my Adept response you might want one.--
Make fun of me...I destroyed my amplifier. ID10T. I never kick a guy when he's down; placing the foot on the neck works just as well. The fact is that even without our creative input things break, all on their own. Most all of us have done stuff like this, although most don't like to admit it.
What's wrong with a DVD player as a transport? I would guess most of the 10k and above, universal players probably ain't to bad as cd players;and I've read some of the moded uni's--Den.3910/5910-- ain't chopped liver, either.I would say the quality of the parts and the implementation of the cir...
minimze ambiguity when describing audio components A certain cable will have a different sound depending on the system it's placed in. It's all sales talk, most everybody knows that;'ya think?
Anybody with some thoughts on Hafler amps If you thought it sounded better after a couple of hours; leave it on for 24/36 hrs;then listen.
"Absolute best" used speaker for $8-10K I guess our answers could be a poularity contest,as many of these threads are. My vote goes for the speakers I own: Sophia, series 2. Not any series 2's 4sale,yet. I had the originals and they qualify. Worth a listen, rather than assuming others' 'v...
HiDef DVD vs. High End Legacy In terms of price---If HD-DVD interests you, they are cheap to try, that is compared to high priced players.AND, I'm just guessing that PQ in HD is better than whatever hi-end SD-player. Right now software is limited and BluRay,not yet here will be ...
problems with CJ's Premier 140 ? anyone As I see it the quality of the tubes and to what extent they were tested--i.e. don't buy private seller tubes and rely on home tube testers results.
Are the Beatles the reason why modern music exists Ok,so I'm reeeally old. (DOB'38.) No mater how many books you read on 'today's music' You're reading the author's opinion. I have my opinion as well. I think it started in the late '40's with what was called "rhythm and blues" By the mid '50's it ...
Intergrated or Solid State Whats The Difference ? An intergrated just means that there is a preamp and an amp, within the same chassis. They come in SS or with tubes---they both also come with varying amounts of power. |
