HELP...Bubble Wrap Marks in PIANO BLACK Speakers?? I own Wilson Sophia 2's. They come wrapped in a plastic peel-off coat. They warn you to not leave this plastic sheet coating on to long. Temp and humidity up and downs may be why the bubble imprints are there in the first place, thus, tough to remov...
Weirdest Question asked when selling gear? Kinda nice revisiting this thread and seeing the names of some of our oldtimers.(Many mirroring my thoughts, exactly.) I guess this thread did turn into a pet-peevs kind of thing. Great place to vent, me thinks. In this hobby, many or most are movi...
Do I need power conditioning for my new plasma? No, you don't NEED a conditioner. Does a real good one improve PQ?--You bet. I have owned at least a dozen conditioners over the years. They all helped, even if only slightly--each in their own way.---This refers to audio and video, help. Even my l...
What happens if......... It's ok to jump on me if I'm wrong---- Seems I read there ain't no 1080p sources but plenty of displays with 1080p inputs.
Digital Cable Music Choice Well I must be a salmon swimming upstream. If you can get a hold of an older (non-DD) box with the coax out the PCM 88.1 into a great dac and within a great system is better than most "think".(As most haven't heard what I describe.)
Is HDMI connection better than Component? I think most of the responders have it right. Don't assume anything. However, one cable for audio and video would be cheaper and less cumbersome than 5 cables; doing the same job.
HDTV transmitter/antenna information I installed my own $19.95 Ratshack antenna. (7 years ago)I live in a pretty good location where all the tv stations are due east..of me,thus negating a rotor.-- Oh, I must be blind, I see no difference in PQ. My sig. strength is 99.--- D* still on...
Forums and Manufacturers: Are they here to help? Well I know you can get just about as much bad info from members commenting on some pretty fine equpment. There are many fine dealers and manufactures contributing here. The printed word excites us/ no matter where it is read. However listening at...
Hales Transcendence 8 Speakers Thanks for the input on the price, when new---I guess the 8k I remember was for a used pair, duh? ----Oh, and the C vs F thing too.
Hales Transcendence 8 Speakers Dear Mr. Wood--; These great speakers love powerful SS amps. So, if you listen loud and have a largish room; the amp you now own could be a slight problem. As I remember they were around 8k,American bucks, new at that time.I nearly bought a pair 5/...
Mccormack DNA125 or Belles 150A Hot Rod Thanks for the input Mr.Steve--. My comments speak only to the Belles as I have never owned a Mc. amp. The hot rod is a great starter amp. Runs cool-- However my advice is to pick up a used 150a Reference. Still a pretty cheap price and IMO class ...
Sound Quality or Convenience? SQ,down;convience and saving money are UP!! With 16 el34'3 (CJ 8 monos) the heat factor, the power usage, and the cost of replacing the tubes all factored in; compared to a SS amp__priceless. My power bill drops 50 a month and I listen 3x's as much.
Speaker Channel Burn-In Ok---I own a pair of SAP Audio speakers and the manual states offset driver setup instructions; making one speaker a right/one a left. Then in another system I own Mirage 3si's. These have an extra tweeter on the rear side of speaker__They are off...
Review: Merlin VSM-MX Thanks for your time and your excellent review. Your language was just fine,to me. I am happy that you're happy. That is what our hobby is all about. Around here there is always someone ready to trash so many different quality products. As a guess...
Speaker Channel Burn-In There are some speaker pairs intended to be the right or the left. I have owned several pairs fitting this criteria. i.e. tweeter being off-set,is the most common reason.(tweeter not centered in the cabinet) Beyond that,I doubt it matters. |
