seeking advise please on my short list for new speakers? (15k budget) @deep_333 The Z1 Cryo is just shy of 15K. Perhaps some might recommend the cheaper Borresen X3. I've heard both and I think the Z1 Cryo is worth the premium. I forgot to mention TAD-ME1. It's fantastic and still within OP's budget. For active, I...
seeking advise please on my short list for new speakers? (15k budget) @deep_333 I've heard both NS-3000 and NS-5000. They were good, but IMO not in the same league as Borresen and Gauder Akustik. Out of the two I preferred NS-3000. The sound was more focused and exciting. I listened to them with all Yamaha setup tha...
seeking advise please on my short list for new speakers? (15k budget) I've auditioned a lot at this price range. For stand mount without a question Borresen Z1 Cryo and Gauder Akustik Berlina RC3. For tower, Audiovector Arrete R3 and Apertura Edena.
Speaker with Modern Design There are surprisingly plenty of options. Elipson Planet L Amphion Argon 0 Eclipse TD508MK3 Scandyna Minipods
Streamer+R2R dac+True balanced Class A preamp all-in-one? @deep_333 You can try TEAC UD-701N as well. Same architecture as the Esoteric but less than half the price. Esoteric and TEAC are basically the same company.
Streamer+R2R dac+True balanced Class A preamp all-in-one? Well, Boulder 812 seems to fit your need, though I'm not sure what is the DAC architecture inside that. There's also Esoteric N-05XD, not R2R, but very fine sounding nonetheless.
How much hum is normal from a new tube amp @blue-magoo Less than 2 months. Mine so far is dead quiet. But like I said, the demo set I auditioned had faint hum from the amp itself when using the XLR. Finger-crossed it would not happen to mine because I really like the sound of it.
Leaving my amplifier on ok? I switched off all my gears when they are not in use, not even in standby mode. I think a good setup needs to sound very good even with little warmup. I would turn on my setup, let it warm up for 5 minutes max, and immediately enjoy aural bliss....
Has anyone heard the Cabasse Pearl or Akoya active speaker/amp/dac? I love Cabasse's speakers and am currently using a 2.1 Cabasse passive setup. I've auditioned the larger Pearls in stereo setup. They were highly resolving, bright-sounding, and plenty of bass that no subwoofer is needed. The downside is the high...
How much hum is normal from a new tube amp Might be a lemon set. i have Lab12 Integre4 MKII, zero hum. The demo set I auditioned had a slight hum when using XLR input, but none when using RCA input. My brand new set has no hum though at all. Perhaps try switching the inputs first? If it ...
On the hunt for a non-tube preamp (or hybrid), long post... I've heard a nice Magica setup with SPL Elector + SPL M1000. They look nice together. You can consider Plinius Kaitaki for pre-amp as well.
Lab12 Integre 4 MKII - user review @oddiofyl Go on and complete the stack! Getting this amp cured my upgrade-itis. The next time I will consider new DAC or amp is when I won the lottery.
Wharfedale Lintons ... Any great amp pairings? I’ve heard Linton side by side with Mission 700, both driven by Audiolab 6000A. The Mission 700 sounded lively and great, the Linton sounded muffled and distant. I think the Linton might benefit from a livelier amp. Maybe a tube amp like a Wilsen...
Tube amp recommendations to drive Joseph Audio speakers I’m using Lab12 Integre4 MKII. In the process of auditioning it, I also auditioned Lab12 Suara and Lab12 Pre1. They sounded largely identical to my ears. You can consider the Suara, although if I am you I would consider selling your ARC pre and ge...
Best Tube Amp for High Sensitivity Speakers: 45, PX25, or 300B? @atmasphere What you said is very valid. Why limit our options just because of some preconceived notions? My first time listening to a tube amp was one of the large Line Magnetic. I have always thought tube amps were supposed to sound seductive,... |
