Best recording / performance Dvorak Cello conc. Dougmc, now this makes me curious to hear Rostropovich's Dvorak with Karajan on Deutsche Grammophon.I can understand why du Pre/Barenboim was deemed less successful. Du Pre recorded this concerto late in her career and her health was already decli...
Audience Au24 Bi-wire or w/Jumper with N803 John, I have tried Zu Libtec speaker cables with jumpers and did not like them at all. They were dull sounding and lacked dynamics and speed. The collapsing of soundstage took place as well. Zu customer service is top notch and they took the cable...
Want to Start vinyl Skclarey, I'm kind of doing the same thing now. It is easy to get discouraged by some of the answers here on this thread, I know, but to me trying something different is fun. So whoever supports the idea here, thanks!!!!I'm still trying to figure ...
Best recording / performance Dvorak Cello conc. I know this is an old thread, but I was just listening to this concerto and decided to run a sarch on the 'gon to see what has been said about it here.....so......I have heard 3 versions of this concerto and own 2.I would rate them in this order:1...
Best Preamp = No Preamp? DACs you mentioned, I think you're better off getting a tube preamp. If you want to go without preamp, consider Mark Levinson or Wadia cd players. Otherwise, with Bel Canto and Benchmark I think you will benefit from a preamp, especially a tubed o...
Solid state pre + power for Sonus Faber Guarneris? I think X250.5 would be a good match for these speakers. Also Krell is a good match with SF speakers.McIntosh MC501 monobolocks would be nice too.I suggest you go for a tube preamp though.
Leave an amp "on" permanetly Mcpody, Hydras do not regulate voltage anomalies. These conditioners are passive. To regulate voltage fluctuations you need a power regenerator. Hydra can be used with some amps as a conditioner only. But know that it won't regulate voltage.
Joule, Blue Circle, CAT SL1 Blue Circle is very good stuff, but if you are buying used, the possibilty you will find a unit with a remote control is pretty slim. Sonically BC is very good. Convience is not there though.
Leave an amp "on" permanetly when I owned McCormack DNA-125 I kept it on 24/7kept my DNA-225 on starting on Thursday if I knew I'd be listening on the weekend. These amps do sound good when they are hot and I did notice especially with the 125 that the best sound is reached a...
Accurate vs Musical The way I understand musicality is that it also means the emotion of a musical composition that is conveyed to a listener. Be it by a musician, orchestra or a stereo system. Accurate system reproduces not only timbre, pitch and harmonics, but shou...
Reboot or Die? kee it unplugged for few days. I don't think the laser went though. Seems like a problem elsewhere. It may be fixable. To find out it will cost you whatever the tech charges per hour at your local authorized Philips repair shop. Should not be more...
Review: Bent Audio Tap Linestage Teajay, thanks.TAP seems to be working magically in your system within the current config. If nothing beats it, why bother?Enjoy!
Review: Bent Audio Tap Linestage Teajay, so to complete the recent audition notes, can you reveal the name of the highly regarded tube line stage?
audience au24 versus transparent ultra mm PAD Anniversary Aqueous and Synergistic Tesla Accelerator easily beat AU24 in my system. AU24 was inferior to both. Bass, soundstage, anything you mention, AU24 was behind. AU24 is a pretty good cable, but there are better cables available now tha...
Belkin TuneFM for iPod there is a factory amplifier in the trunk in my car. The car has a very good sounding Mark Levinson Lexus system. Really don't want to screw around with it. |
