What is the correct way to use the Zerostat? I just bought a vintage Zerostat kit and the instructions are on it. That's where I got it from. You need to kind of get a feel for the Zerostat trigger though. Practice a bit on the squeeze/release.:)
What is the correct way to use the Zerostat? I usually do it when the record is on on the turntable but it SHOULD NOT BE SPINNING.Here are the instructions:1) Imagine a record having a triangular shape(the spindle hole being the center). Hold the Zerostat approximately 12" away from the reco...
Great XLR for $300 or less used Acoustic Zen Matrix Reference MkII.Harmonic Tech Pro-Silway MkIIIOn the cheaper side, don't laugh, but the BlueJeans XLR interconnects are really, really good. 30 days return too, so you can even send them back when you're done!
Anti-Cable High Frequency Performance Cables are very system and listener dependent, as we all know. You hear what you hear. Don't try to fool yourself.
Conrad Johnson PV11...Extreme sibilance, harsh sou Dale, yes, remove the EQ for now.I don't think running tubes some more would cure anything in a major way.
Conrad Johnson PV11...Extreme sibilance, harsh sou the bass suckout/lack of bass, may make higher frequencies appear more prominent, forward and brittle.I also wanted to ask, do you experience sibilance with only a few particular recordings or basically on everything you listen to?
Conrad Johnson PV11...Extreme sibilance, harsh sou Also, if I am not mistaking, some CJ preamps invert phase. Double-check if the PV11 does and take appropriate action to invert phase. Do the phase correction at the amplifier end by switching speaker cables "-" and "+" and see if this helps....onl...
Conrad Johnson PV11...Extreme sibilance, harsh sou I would try taking the EQ out and running the CJ direct into the amp. See what it does then.Did you replace the Silver ICs with a cheap-s generic copper ICs as recommended above to eliminate the ICs as being the cause?
Conrad Johnson PV11...Extreme sibilance, harsh sou oh, and by the way, there is nothing stange about CJ using EH tubes. That's a normal tube of choice for supplied tubes. Either EH or Sovtek in most cases. Some manufactures pack Chinese tubes with their equipment. Don't be expecting CJ to give you...
Conrad Johnson PV11...Extreme sibilance, harsh sou Harsh mids and extreme sibilance you are experiencing is most likely a distortion somewhere. You have to find the component in the chain that creates it.1) make sure the tubes in the CJ are fresh. 2) make sure the CJ pre matches well with your pow...

Pass Labs XA- ".5" ??? 09-02-07: TeajayTboooe, I have heard the new XA.5 amps in a very good system and I could not tell the difference between my XA-100's and the new XA.5 amps. So, if I were you I would just relax or put your money in other pieces in your system.Teaja...

Observations on Audiogon Posts I agree, it would be better if there is an indication for sound preference when a thread is posted, but even if a sonic preference is perfectly described by the poster, any recommendation given is still approximate. There are no guarantees. If to ...
Vibration and Isolation at a budget? Also, interesting, I've noticed, by searching the forums, that some use bubble wrap under the isolation platforms. This is kind of cool to exepriment with, as at least the bubble wrap costs nothing. |
