Just got my Scoutmaster, need setup suggestions...
The mirrored protractor from turntablebasics.com will help a lot with the adjustments and fine tuning. You will need to set the overhang, azimuth, zenith, vta and re-check the downforce. VTA/SRA and downforce are affected by changes to either, so ...
Just got my Scoutmaster, need setup suggestions...
Read this and look at the illustration. It'll help you understand how to set it up.Also, invest in a good protractor if you don't already own one. turntablebasics.com has a good one.And I suggest a digital gauge.
what causes sibilance?
only on that recording? If that is the case, I'd say it's the recording that is sibilant. If you have the cd version, it would be interesting to compare as far as sibilance, although it may not mean much in the end since the record is dated to 197...

BAT Preamps, why such polarized opposite opinions?
Audiosoul, the best thing to do, is to audition at home in your own system. It seems like you know that. But despite the fact, you still lean towards a certain set of opinions on the forums. I am not doubting what Elberoth1 observed in his system,...

BAT Preamps, why such polarized opposite opinions?
I have heard BAT 31SE in the store with BAT VK250 amplifier when I was auditioning CD players(Arcam FMJ CD33, Cary 303/300 and Musical Fidelity A5) at Sound by Singer. Haven't noticed the closed in or dark or dull sound from the BAT combo. The roo...
Ever hear a power cable make a huge difference?
Which one is the one Brutus was talking about?
Cartridge recommendation?
I am not familiar with your current cartridge or the other ones you mentioned. I have Ace medium on my table and love the sound. It was a HUGE step up from the Sumiko Pearl I previously had. Don't own the Telarc 1812 on vinyl....have it on CD and ...
Deep Cleaning Records With Steam?
who is this major tweak and record provider? And what is the unit you are looking at for $20 at Target. If you are talking about a fabric steamer, I don't believe this one will do. You need a pressure steamer. Something like the Shark Steam Blaster...
MC402 vs FPB 300cx
Get the 802Ds first and see how it goes from there. I would think the Mac's recommendation on the hiogher end monoblocks is a good one....if you want to stay with McIntosh amps. For B&Ws the more power the better. But I heard the 803Ds wtih th...

Class-D amps - a different re view
if they keep making them, it means there is a market for these amps. I personally don't like the sound of Class D amps but know people who do. Some people don't like tubes, some don't like solid state. It doesn't make tubes better than SS or SS be...
