If you want dynamic, try Mahler's 2nd, 3rd and 5th should do the trick. Shostakovich's 5th and 7th symphonies. Others to consider - Copland(pick any symphony or el Salon Mexico), Prokofiev(Romeo and Juliet), Stravinsky.

try unplugging it from the wall, wait 10 minutes and then turn the tv on.....see what it does
Full Volume Issue
I think your TV is probably creating some kind of a surge when you power it up, possibly causing some circuit in the preamp to go nuts. Is the preamp off, meaning no power to any of its circuits/components, or is it in stand-by? You can try this, ...
Amplifier advice for Wilson Sophia speakers
I think the X250.5 is more than enough for the Sophias power wise. Sophias are much easier to drive than my B&W N803 and the X250.5 absolutely handles the N803s without any hint of running out of juice. I listen to music on loud levels. The Pa...
Surge protection for SF Line 3
Shunyata Hydra 4 worked great without any issues with my friend's SF Line-1.
worse entertainer or performer of all time??
Michael Bolton, Bruce Springsteen, the Dead, Kenny G, Chuck Mangione. In classical music I would say Joshua Bell(how did he achieve that screetching he calls sound?) and among conductors it is Lorin Maazel(can't wait until his contract runs out wit...
Pass X-250.5 or McIntosh MC402?
I'm going for my personal record within the past 5 years....no changes for a year....will be in Feb 2008.Well, except an addition of a turntable...but I don't consider it a change...it's an addition:)I've been buying tons of new music and attendin...
Music to evaluate Speakers and System
Tough to evaluate separate components in an unknown room/system. You just won't know what you're listening to, what exactly causes the sound you are hearing....is it a cd player, speakers, amp, preamp, cables or the room?Unless you are buying that...
Pass X-250.5 or McIntosh MC402?
Brianmgrarcom, I think the N802 may even be tougher to drive than the newer 802D or so I've been told by the B&W dealer. Supposedly because of the improvements in a crossover design in the newer D line...but don't take my word for it...
Pass X-250.5 or McIntosh MC402?
I don't think X250.5 will be optimal for your N802s. I drive N803 with an X250.5 and it is just wright. You'll need at least an X350.5 or if you go with McIntosh, then go for the MC501 monoblocks. Don't bother with the MC402 because it won't provi...
Re-tubing my ARC reference 1 preamp
Slates, on the more affordable front, the 6H23 NOS Russian Military tubes should give you what you're looking for. You can get them from Upscale Audio(get Platinum grade) or if you want the same tubes but the cryo version, the ATSI Advantage Tube ...
Amplifier advice for Wilson Sophia speakers
If going for the Pass amp, go for the X250.5 for the Sophias. This is the newest version of the X250 and supposed to sound smoother in the highs and more natural than the older X250, although I haven't heard the X250 I love the X250.5 in my system...
Synergistic New Tesla Line...Any comments?
Tboooe, thanks for the suggestion but unfortunately it isn't the case with LS-25. Stock cord does not sound bad at all, but the Shunyata Taipan Helix Alpha sounds a lot better on it. Don't forget, the LS-25 is about 3 generations back and 1 model ...
Burning cd's for my modestly high-end system...
Celtic, I've been using Memorex Black CD-Rs exclusively for the past 2 years and never had a bad disc. Burn on lowest possible speed. I also use Mitsui discs. BTW, Matsui is a baseball player in NY Yankees :) You are right though, CD-Rs sound diff...
Synergistic New Tesla Line...Any comments?
Thanks Joey. I will give T2 and T3 a try.
